When I setup a pc/laptop to use the cisco vpn I always place a copy of the .pcf file in the profile directory. The user can then be talk through using the copy to replace the original.

We had the same problems with all our pcs and laptops, had to just leave them to get on with it and they all eventually came through the problem. Reckon MS must have changed the way the updates are applied????

Applied the fix supplied by MS, it fixes the problem but has to be applied as administrator!

Thanks for that. I've been in touch with MS about a WSUS distributable fix but they were noncomittal and offered me the hotfix as the answer. Luckily we do not have too many machines with the problem. MS star again!!!!!!

Just had a look at a few of our machines and it definately only affects pcs with realtek audio cards.

I use a piece of inexpensive software called DeviceLock. It's simple and effective as both stand alone or networked and can be setup using GPs. It allows control of CD/DVD writers, bluetooth, HDD, to name but a few as well as USB.

Yet again MS change things for the better!!!! I've had problems downloading the software to acess the new update site. The trouble is things go wrong but they don't give you enough info to sus out what the problem is. That is unless you speak microsoft!!!!!!!

I have not added any ports to the list. Outlook hangs when you try to download or send email. another good one is when you uninstall Vscan 8 it uninstalls java so lots of other things stop working!!!!!! I've lodged a call with McAfee and await a reply/fix

I am running W2k3 SP2 (firewall off), office 97 ansd outlook 98. With Vscan 8 loaded I am unanle to send or receive emails. It would appear that the mail spooler is locked. anyone got any ideas........please thanks in advance
