I have a 500 k6-2 and everytime I try to install Red Hat Linux 7.3 0r 7.1 it shuts off after it formats the hard drive. If I install 7.0 it will install flawlessly. Can somebody please tell me how to fix this problem or just what might be causing it. I also put in new memory and that did not...
The monitor works fine, the motherboard is an ABIT K7, its an Athlon 800 with a 32mb nvidia Vanta card AGP. I've tried it with a working PCI card but the same thing happens. I don't hear any beeps, and the bios and cmos have been reset and still nothing.
I appreciate the info but I am not getting any display at all. No bios or cmos info, nothing at all. I push the power button I hear hard drive working and see lights come on but no display.
I recently upgraded my system with a new motherboard and a new cpu. I attempted to use my old system and, to my dismay, found that when it would load up there was no display. I've tested the video card, memory, monitor, and all the peripherals. I was wondering if anybody could tell me why...
yes I have tried unistalling everything and only using necessary components that didn't help. I got it to install red hat linux 7.0 but crashes when trying to upgrade or install 7.1 or 7.3. I bought some new ram and put that in but that was when it let me install 7.0 and nothing else. thanks...
I have a K6-2 500 mhz computer that I'm trying to put linux on except it keeps shutting itself down whenever I try to install it. Can somebody please give me reasons as to why this would happen. The fan works, the memory is brand new, and the cpu isn't overheating. Thanks :)
thanks for the info. another thing I forgot to mention is that when it reboots after the memory dump the bios doesn't find the hard drive and I have to wait about five minutes and then it will find it. does this change anything. its a Maxtor 40g 7200 rpm and I have a slave Western Digital 20g...
My hard drive starts to click about every second sometimes it only clicks once or twice but when it gets to about six clicks it causes a memory dump. can somebody please tell me why this happens?
Thanks for the info, but the problem still remains. I bought a pci video card and that won't even get a display. It could of course be the bios but if there's nothing in the agp slot then it should look in the pci and it still won't give me a display. I've looked but haven't found anything...
Actually it gave me no display once I put the card in the motherboard. I never had a chance to add any drivers. I think that the power supply might have shocked the processor except I'm not sure how because there was no overclocking involved. just for reference its a 200w power supply and a...
I have a gateway system with a pentium 3 slot 1 500mhz and I tried to upgrade the memory and video card and then I stopped getting a display. I removed the memory and video card and put back the old video card and there is still no display. I replaced the motherboard with one that is exactly...
