Hi all,
I'm new to the Cisco PIX scene. Just got a Cisco PIX 506e. I managed to install it & get internet connectivity. I noticed there is nowhere on the PIX to enter our T1's DNS servers like we had on our 3Com OfficeConnect firewall. So I had to set the DHCP client to use 10.1.1.15 (our...
Is there a way to assign a DHCP client the same IP every time? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Possibly based on NIC/MAC Address or something?
Thanks in advance.
Oh ok thanks!
Because on the 3Com you had to enter your ISP's DNS otherwise none of the webpages would resolve externally. We use our own internal DNS server 10.1.1.15 for the clients.
I know this may sound stupid, but I am a complete PIX newbie. We just upgraded from a 3com OfficeConnect 25 Firewall.
Where do I put our ISP's DNS info on the external interface? I only see a spot for IP, Subnet, Gateway (T1 router). I see internal DNS on the internal network, but can't seem...
Hi all,
Maybe someone here can help me. I've searched and searched and have not found a solution to this.
When my co-worker opens up an attachment in his email and goes to print it, the Windows XP built-in picture & fax viewer comes up and everything is fine. Until you get to that...
I saw a 501 with unlimited users....but would it still be better to go with a 506 performance-wise? Looking at about 30 users with 6 VPN (2 remote smaller officers) connecting in. Possible up to 45 users total by late next year.
Oh ok thanks, that's what I was looking for. A web-interface...
We currently use a 3com OfficeConnect 25 (they had it before I started working here). Anyways, we hit the 25 user limit so it's time for an upgrade.
I was looking at the Cisco PIX 501. Any other suggestions?
Also is the Cisco PIX all command line/telnet based? Or does it have a web browser...

We have a user who keeps opening multiple instances of Outlook XP. We tell him to only use one, but each time he wants to go back to the main window he clicks the Outlook icon and another instance opens. I have seen up to 20 instances open and then he complains about email being slow...
Hi... I am actually having the reverse problem. We have a user who keeps opening multiple instances of Outlook XP. We tell him to only use one, but each time he wants to go back to the main window he clicks the Outlook icon and another instance opens. I have seen up to 20 instances open and...
Ahhh I see that now. I'm not sure how it wants the shortcut format, it's asking for a URL?
If I put //server/docs/document.ink think that might work?
Or F:/docs/document.ink maybe through the mapping?
I'm going to give it a try now. THANKS!
Hi all..
We have about 50 PC's and I was wondering if there was some type of an easier way to do this... My boss has a file he had me store on our file server. He wants everyone to have an icon/shortcut on their desktop that points to it.
Our file server is mapped to drive "F" on...
Hi all..
When I go to print or scan a document, the Photo Printing Wizard comes up. Instead of just loading the document I am trying to print, it seems to be loading 500+ documents that I've printed over the several months.
Does anyone know where I can look to delete all these files/photos? It...
Hi all,
I wonder if anyone has come across this problem before. Every 2-3 hours all our users become locked out. Then I manually have to go into Active Directory, and unlock each account. We only have about 20 users so it's not that crazy, but it kicks them out of Instant Messenger and their...
Marc,
Yes I fully understand that, and have brought that to their attention. I have an email stating it. We also use GFI MailSecurity and MailEssentials. MailEssentials has a monitoring option.. we tested it out and it works only when someone external sends an email to the person internally...
