Hi CathieB, Wen using Is Null in an expression it should read IsNull() - the field comes between the parentheses, like: IIf(IsNull([field]);"True statement";"Untrue statement") Spike1950- Spike1950

Difference between left() and left$()
I know how to use functions, but I can't seem to find any explanation on when to use the built-in functions that come with a dollar sign. Not even in the Access Bilble. When do I use a function like Left() without $, and when should I use Left$() with the sign? Any clear information on this...- Spike1950

How do I open Word with a template (from Access)
This is what I am looking for. I need to go from an Access form to a Word template. The template should open as it does in Word, putting 'document 1" in the system bar. I use some bookmarks in the template that are replaced with data from the form and the user needs to input his own text...- Spike1950
