I am one of the tech guys, this virus has just been giving us the run around. You think you've got it.. then it shows up next day or sometimes after a few reboots.
This virus messes with your tcp stack it seems. Running netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt on an xp client seems to fix the...
So my place of work received a nice little virus that spread faster then anything I have witnessed and it's killing the spirits of my coworkers and myself just as fast. I'm hoping someone on the boards here has some experience with such a thing.
We're told the virus was spread due to a...
Client machine is a XP Pro machine. I've got two printers on the network I need it to print to. One is a hp inkjet and it prints everything fine to it. The other is a Multifunctional Minolta and it will print test pages and docs from notepad, but I can't get it to print anything if I print...
Well, I'm using Xandros, which was almost too easy to install :) I rebooted it with my external HD in power up and attached and it works without me doing anything else. The HD was using fat32 fyi. I can easily share the drive to windows pc's on the network and did it all without a lot of...
Great, in your opinion could this work out...
Linux installed on an IBM PC acting as a server for MS PCs. That same linux server backing up that data onto an external drive. If that server were to die for some reason, could I unplug that external HD and plug it into a MS PC and read those...
I should of told you I'm still pretty green when it comes to linux. Is it safe to say I might not have any great difficulty installing Debian or Ubuntu? I realize this is tough to say since you don't know my knowledge of linux.
Thanks for the suggestions :)

I have been in the IT field for almost 10 years now and have recently gotten a little more comfortable with linux. I have a client that wants a file server and I'm trying to go as cheap as possible since it's only a 6 person network and the only thing they will use this for is to store a very...
My organization is trying to decide on which to go with since we have both IBM and Compaq servers... on desktops we have all ibm...
What do you all think?
Thanks in advance!

I've just replaced a server and the old one was acting as print server for about 30 clients. My question is, is there a way to push out the printers to the clients for the new server? Also, is there a way to delete the old ones remotely?

This may not be the right place due to it being a virus, but I thought I might get a more accurate response in the hands of notes professionals. This is the second time this has happened to a mail file on our domino server. We are using NAV and a user's entire nsf mail file will be thrown into...
I have a machine that will reboot randomly and when it comes back up it tells you it did so because of a device driver, but it doesn't say which. This particular user has quite a few devices/upgrades and I'm wondering if there is a utility out there that could help me narrow down the faulty...
I'm trying to upgrade the firmare on this switch. When I go to the ip in a browser I get my menu of option and one is the CMS. So I click on it and it looks like it's trying to load a java applet, but it never does. Is anyone else using an xp machine to connect to these switches for...
Wasn't there one posted about recently that did this? I have a user in a remote location (Farm house 3 hours away from me) that calls me and says the computer just starts up and hits a blue screen with a memory dump message and then reboots. Didn't a virus surface recently that had these...
Never have I found such a difficult spyware to remove from a pc. This little devil is a browser hijacker and I have successfully removed every trace of it, but then after rebooting it repopulates this info...
