Thanks for the feedback Pascal,
I have got round the views issue by opening them in a slightly different way.
Instead of using a named item in the outline I used a command which seems to be working
@Command( [OpenFrameset] ; "main");
@SetTargetFrame("body");
@Command([OpenView];"History")...
Hi all :)
I have a bit of a problem that I hope you'll be able to help with.
I am writing an application in notes to handle our company holiday bookings. Nothing spectacular but I am having a problem with a particular view.
The view needs to show 1 form type and only those for the user...
Dear All
I hope you can help. I have just reinstalled SMS and got the clients up and working again. All seems to be fine except, when I set up a program advertisement it does not register under System Status+Advertisement Status.
Does anyone have any idea why this would happend?
John
Thanks Rob, that seems to have made a world of difference. The accounts were locked so I followed MS's instructions on adding a second client account. The entries are flooding in as we speak.
Thanks alot its a huge help.
John
Hi all, hope you can help.
My SMS server decided it was going to go belly up, so a reformat and reinstall of W2k and SQL7 later, I reinstalled SMS 2.0 sp4 and set it up as before, same site name, etc.
Everything looks ok except on the client side. SMS recognises that there are clients out...
Hi All
I dont hold out much hope for this one but here goes, does anyone know a quick way to exclude all programs in software metering. With the thought of then unexcluding the one or two i want to track.
Thanks.

Dear All
I have just enabled Network Discovery to find out if I have missed any workstations with the logon discovery method. Of course SMS has now picked up any number of other hardware items (printers, routers, etc). We mostly use HP 4050 and 4500 printers, would anyone know if it is...
ive had the thisd problem on 2000 clients, Ive found that adding File and Print sharing to the network config, then removing and reinstalling the client works.
Just removing and reinstalling doesnt seem to help.

I've had a similar experience and discovered a solution totally by accident on 2000 workstations.
We had a PC that needed printer sharing enabled and had SMS client problems. Once we enabled File and Print sharing the client completed its install and was fully functional in SMS.
I think...
Just a thought, but we have had alot of problems with MS Office and Dr Watson errors on NT4 machines. We found oddly enough that the problem only occurs on one profile. We removed the offending profile and set it up again and miraculously the problem went away. No ammount of reinstalls helped...
thanks John, that answers all sorts of questions, I can use SMS now to identify who has had all sorts of fixes, as long as i can uniquely identify each hotfix exe.
Thanks again.

Hi
I think I use the Office 2000 version of the MSI process, which creates the Transform file that allows an unattended Office 2000 installation.
All I do with SMS is create a new package, then point SMS to the Office Admin installation for its source files. When you go to the Program section...
Hi
Would anyone know how to tell if a machine has had the Post SP6 SRP update run on it or not. I'm trying to put together a list of who has and who hasn't had it run on their machines.
Thanks.

Hmmm nearest i cant find the individual program for setting up the SMS console, but on your SMS server in SMS_(site code)\bin\i386 is a setup program which MS say you can use to set up the Admin Console.
Which OS is the workstation you are installing it onto?
P.S you mentioned the server...
If you put the SMS CD into one of your Workstations it tells you that you cant install SMS on that machine but gives you one option, which is to install the Admin Console.
Watch out when it asks you for your SMS Site Server, just put in the Server Name, without any \\'s. I got caught out on...
You can do a basic audit report using a query, it's not brilliant but then I dont think SMS is the right tool for a software audit. I've used a few and SMS is the least flexible or helpful.
If you create a new query, click Edit Query Statement, then Show Query Language, then paste the...
As far as I can establish with the installer is that when creating a package you have to set up one for each different OS you are going to put the installer package on.
So if you wanted to put Winzip on a windows 98 machine and a windows 2000 machine, you'd have to create an installer package...
Hi
The best way i have found is to see if the package you are installing has any command line switches. If you can find one that will perform an unattended or quiet install you should have no trouble.
Its then a question of building a new package, which the wizard will guide you through, then...
If you use "Subselected Values" in the criterion type of the criteria setup window you can select a query and use "is in" or "Is not in" as an operator.
Ive found that it's best to keep the original query as simple as possible.
hope this helps :)
