Restoring active directiry and rolled back usn

Just wanted to let you know how it went, this may help others! Started in AD restore mode and estored the system state using Arcserve 11.1 form 4 weeks ago. This worked fine. Restarted in normal mode but there was still a problem. This was caused by the computer password now bing out of sync...

Restoring active directiry and rolled back usn

Sorry if I am causing confusion. I proposed to do an non-authroitative restore (not authroitative). We do have a functioning DC that is currently doing all authentication and AD edits. The one that is acting up has netlogon paused and replication disabled. As I understand it, the...

Restoring active directiry and rolled back usn

Yes, thanks for that, I will give the restore a go. I think that as netlogon is disabled on the offending DC that all changes will have been made on the functioning DC and so there should be no problems - Correct me if I am wrong! Yes, I would not have installed Exchange on a DC if I had known...

Cannot access Virtual SMTP Server Port 25

I had exactly the same trouble. Upon upgrading to Exchange 2003 (running on 2000 Server) any changes made in Exchange system manager (to do with SMTP) were not implemented. Specifically, I wanted to allow SMTP acccess from another server. I think this is due to the changes not being relicated...

Restoring active directiry and rolled back usn

Hi all I have a problem I would like some advice on. We have a windows 2000 DC running Exchange 2003. Recently, there was a power falure and the server did not shut down gracefully. There was some corruption on the system disk and after repairing, active directory replication is disabled. It...

Cannot access Virtual SMTP Server Port 25

Thanks, the only change I have made since this stopped working was upgrading to Exchange 2003. I think something has been corrupted - it looks to me as if the changes are not being replicated to the Metabase. I have a work around, I have setup the server that can access the Exchange box as a...

Cannot access Virtual SMTP Server Port 25

Going mad with this one! Trying to setup SMTP virtual server on Exchange 2003. I cannot telnet to port 25, the connection is dropped. This works fine locally and from one other server machine. I have changed the connection restrictions to "All except the list below" and the list is empty. It...

Local Copy of Roaming Profile Corrupt

I will try moving their profile folders to see if it helps and doing a defrag on the problem machines. Thanks for the advice.

Local Copy of Roaming Profile Corrupt

The profile folder for one user it happened to this morning is 11.2Mb in size. Don't think this is exceptionally large. They cannot save onto the desktop and my documents is redirected to their home drive. The only slightly odd thing is that the profile folder is inside their home folder on...

Local Copy of Roaming Profile Corrupt

I think you mis-understand. If there is no local copy, the user logs on fine with their roaming profile from the server. The problem only happens if a user has logged onto the workstation before and there is a local copy of the profile.

Local Copy of Roaming Profile Corrupt

I dont think that it is a network problem, as we never have a problem if there is no local copy cached on the PC. The workstations attempt to load the local copy and when this fails, will just use the default user profile. Annying the hell out of me! :(

Local Copy of Roaming Profile Corrupt

We have a problem with our roaming ptofiles. Mostly everything works fine but there are an increasing number of times that the user cannot log on, they get the message The roaming profile could not be loaded. The solution is simply to delete the local copy of the profile and then the user can...

    vti_ public folders

In our public Folders in Exchange several folders beginning with vti_ have appeared (vti_cnf vti_pvt etc). I know these are to do with Frontpage extensions and I am unsure as to why they are in Public Folders. I wan't to know if it is safe to delete these? We use OWA and I was unsure if it was...

Administrator cannot install "Volume Not Writable!

Sorry if this is a really basic question but I am new to Apple Macs. I have several ibooks and imacs running OS X (10.2.5) and I am unable to install software, I get the message "You cannot install the software on this disk. The Volume is Not Writable". The software in question is AdmitMac...

    Size limit! help

Just started trying to resolve this problem again. Any ideas? It is our server that is generating the NDR, it is not "leaving the building". We can send large attachments internally. I have rechecked the SMTP connector and Virtual SMTP server settings and there are definately no restrictions...

    Size limit! help

I am having a problem with large attachments as well. They are being returned with a NDR. Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients. The message was not delivered because it is larger than the current system limit. Create a shorter message body or remove...

Giving calender access to users from another domain

The domains are not in the same forest. There is a trust relationship between the two domains. Andy

User is having spoof mail sent from his alias address

We have this quite a lot. I think that some viruses can disguise the sender of the message (picked randomly from the address book on an infected machine). Thus the apparent sender is not the person who is infected. More than likely, your recipient is in the address book of an infected user...

Giving calender access to users from another domain

We have 2 domains and one exchange server. Most of our exchange users logon to domain A, which the exchange 2000 server belings to. I need a handfull of users from domain B to have access to exchange. I have done this by setting up duplicate users on domain A, disabled the users and setting...
