I think you are right. I was trying to write a user friendly input screen for a free format note. Since training user to use vi is not an option, now the best I can do is use a WORDWRAP COMPRESSed multi-line field.

Is there any way to set the screen cursor position in an input field? Say, I want to let the user start typing at character 10.
Another question: can I preset the input mode to INSERT (like you pressed Ctrl-A first)?
