Yes I know how to use the system resource controller.
Yes nimsh is up (and yes I'm using nimsh!)
Yes the world is available over the network.
Yes there are no full filesystems.
Yes the box is powered on.
Yes the sky is blue (well above the clouds it is).
Sorry Khalidaaa, not a helpful post...
0042-001 nim: processing error encountered on "master":
0042-053 m_mkbosi: there is no NIM object named "xxxxxxx_mksysb"
Any attempt to define an object [of any type not just mksysb] served by master gives the above error. There is no NIM object "xxxxxxx_mksysb", however an lsnim -l master...
EMC's 'solution enabler' will give you a command line interface to do you splits and syncs.
Watch out for the two Gotchas:
1) The aix commands give a return code of zero when the DMX has said 'yes I will do that' not 'yes I have done it'.
2) All SE commands are suspended during a disk...
p5W,
Are you saying that if I go the IVM route then I can only have one VIO server? I'm looking at configuring half the box as 1 LPAR and the other with 2 VIO servers to give me vLPARS as required.
Hi,
I'm looking to move 2 Virtual SCSI disks mapped as LVs, 1 from each of my 2 VIO servers, to a new host.
If I remove the virtual target device mappings from host1:
rmvdev -vtd vtemp1
and then map them to the new host2 (vhost2):
mkvdev -vdev temp1 -vadapter vhost2 -dev vtemp1
Repeat for...
Probably mag tape - allthough the new box is on the same LAN.
The source vg is on SSA disk, the target is SAN attached disk (EMC). Could I attach the SSA to the new box, importvg from one of the SSA disks, morror onto SAN, break the mirror etc? At what point would oracle throw its teddies out...
Yes - I'm aware that mksysb/savevg use backup and I can dd each individual lv. What I'm asking is if there is any way of cloning at a higher (volume group) level.
Someone out there must have had to clone an Oracle system at some time!
I have a system which uses Raw logical volumes that I am trying to clone (move onto different H/W).
I can use mksysb/savevg for rootvg & appvg, but I am stuck when it comes to my datavg which has the RLVs (along with 2 filesystems).
Is there a way of cloning this vg or do I have to let the app...
The telnet/ping every second time is classic symptom of having 2 default gateways (a feature of aix5), where one does not not have a route back (ie private network).

I could chuser fred before and...
