Fair enough, but has anyone ever got Recovery console to work, apart from loading a new windows directory that doesn't recognise your old settings. Sure the data's there but XP has to be told remember me!!!!

Whenever i reboot XP HE, it fails just as the welcome should come up. On reboot choose Start Windows Normally and it loads fine. Also if i hit F8 and choose Start Windows Normally that works too!! Have reloaded drivers rolled back u name it, any ideas?

Sounds like a Java issue to me.Check you have Java enabled in Tools---Options----Advanced. Also if you run Sun's Java it can be incompatible with MS Java sites and vice-versa.
