Peter:
Just a thought...
Since you apparently changed some server hardware, check the SCSI connectors on the cables to your backup drive(s). I once spent three days with a problem similar to this, and it ended up being a single pin on my SCSI cable connector being bent over and not making...
Problem solved... it was necessary to go to the AS NDS objects and add my admin user object as both a user and an operator. Did this on both the queue object and the server object.

"What was that?"
I've pulling out what little hair I have left fighting a problem with submitting backup jobs in AS11.1.
When I try to submit a new job using AS Manager (BrightStor ARCserve Backup r11.1, build 3060), I'm getting the following dialog:
"An error occurred while submitting the job.
BrightStor...
I've just upgraded to BAB/ARCserve v11.1 for Netware, and am having problems getting ARCserve to discover our attached WinXP SP2 workstations. (Before anyone says it, I have opened the firewall - BAB v9.01 for NW discovery did see the workstations properly, allowing me to add them to the backup...
Ken:
Thanks for the reply... that's what we finally did. (Since we're already running on a router for our wireless ISP connection, I was able to set "forwarding" on the router to route the appropriate ports to different internal IP addresses.)
Everything's working now.
Thanks again...
Thanks guys! I like the approach Marvin indicated, but I don't think I can get a second IP address from our ISP - we're running on wireless to them, and a single address is all we've been issued (although it's DHCP assigned, they have provided a "fixed" address by linking our router's...
I've got two NSBS6.0.3 servers, post SP3 recommended patches, 25 user license. Both have 1GB+ ram.
One ("MAIN") is has DNS, DHCP, Groupwise 6.0.3 (domain, MTA, POA, and GWIA), GW Webaccess (application and agent), and NW web access components (NetStorage, iFolder, etc.). My second...

Thanks for the link - if I can get the NW4.2 OS for a decent price, I'll give that a try. If I can download the NW5.1 SP5 overlay CD, then I should be in business.
I did get the new server up and running (sans GW and BM), and successfully got our MRP system running on it. (Had to do...
Brent:
You were absolutely correct about the upgrade path - I'm pretty peeved at myself right now (should have listened to you several posts ago!).
It turns out the deployment manager (NWDEPLOY.EXE) included with NW6 SBS won't even try to run with NW4.10. However, I don't have a copy of...
I just purchased a 24-port unmanaged NWay switch to replace our ancient 10BaseT four hub arrangement. In lab testing, I can set our test NW6 server (running IP only) to 10BaseT half-duplex (fixed, not auto-negotiating) and communicate just fine with a workstation (also fixed at 10BaseT...
Brent:
I did find the nlm version (TRUSTBAR.NLM) at
http://support.novell.com/cgi-bin/search/searchtid.cgi?/10066145.htm
but it appears to only support NW5 and later.
Novell doesn't carry the TBACKUP3 anymore, but I did find a copy on a Russian WWW site. I'm wondering if using this utility...
Brent:
Great information - thanks! I'll dig around for the NLM version, too, and give them a whirl.
I'll let you know how my "test migration" goes - I'll be attempting it later this week, in hopes of completing the upgrade to NW6 SBS this weekend.
Thanks again,

Thanks again for the advice and assistance... it looks like it will be easier to create the new NW6 SBS server with a new NDS structure (we only have 15 users) and install the original executables we need (our MicroMRP MAX software, running on a 10-user license of Pervasive SQL 2000, is...
Brent:
Thanks for the synopsis - you've pointed out quite a bit that I wasn't aware of! I'm very concerned with the SMTP/POP situation (using the same server), as currently we're using Mercury/32 to send/receive from a Win98 WS attached to our NW4.10 network, and I have had reports that we've...
Currently, we have a NW4.1 single-server network. Recently, I purchased Novell's SBS6 suite, which includes Groupwise. I've got a test server setup in my office, with SBS6 installed, and want to set up Groupwise to retrieve e-mail from our ISP's domain mailbox.
Currently, we only have dial-up...
Mike:
I've looked at Guinevere and I do see the advantage to using it to "scan" incoming e-mails before they're delivered. Currently, we're relying on InoculateIT for personal workstation scanning, and have a rather firm procedure users are "supposed" to use. So far, we've...
Chris:
Thanks for the information. I think I'll probably go with NW6 Small Business Suite, as it should do everything (and more) I need.
Thanks for the clarification!
Best regards,

"What was that?"
Chris:
Thanks for the clarification.
As long as I can stick with the traditional Netware volumes format, my ArcServeIT should work, at least according to their (Computer Associates) documentation.
Thanks again for the assistance! Hopefully, I'll get the PO in the near future and get NW6 SBS...
Jeff,
Thanks for the information... I've been learning about the NSS functions of NW5.1 and know there is a definite conflict with NSS and ArcServeIT for NW v7. As long as I can over-ride the NSS default, and install under the "old" hard drive standard (NFS?), ArcServeIT is supposed...
Thanks for the input... I noticed the NW6 allowed native file access, and I do have one Mac on the net (actually, it's mine - I use it for technical manuals and other graphics intensive applications).
I think, barring any "gotcha's" lurking, we'll probably go with Novell's Small...
