    Try going to Control Panel and choosing Add or Remove Programs. Choose Add/Remove Windows Components. Deselect Internet Explorer and select Next.     I had the same problem. I set the screen resolution to 800x600 and the color quality to the lowest setting (Medium). It worked fine for me after that.

    If you are looking at trouble shooting hardware related problems I would start with the Device Manager (right click My Computer and select Manage from the menu). If you would still like to look at the Event Logs after looking at Device Manager go to Event Viewer in the same console.

    Start-up Programs

    In addition to msconfig run regedt32 and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Remove any refences to programs that you do not want to start at start up. This is more powerful than msconfig.
