    Try: Control panel>date and time. Set date to 2001. Relaunch Illustrator.

    As nickname89 suggests, plus delete all files named Adobefnt05.lst

    Have had this problem many times and have ended up f-disking and re-installing. But this worked immediately. Do a search of all your files and folders for Adobefnt.lst and Adobefnt05.lst Delete them (don't panic). Restart and Illustrator runs fine.
