Second Domain controller in a 2003SBS Domain

SkreeM, Thanks for the advice! I'm also using folder redirection of the My Documents folder through GPO's and it's not quite working yet. I forgot to make the new DC a Global Catalog server, though. I'll configure that and try it again. What is happening is that several users in the main...

Second Domain controller in a 2003SBS Domain

Was this a dumb question? I'm assuming I need a second DC because I want the file server and authentication to happen locally, instead of over the VPN link. Should I just keep them both in the same location in AD? Thanks, Mike [morning]

Second Domain controller in a 2003SBS Domain

Hello, I too am adding a second DC to a SBS 2003 domain. My reasoning is that we are setting up a remote location a couple of miles away from the main office. There will be a dedicated line run between the two locations utilizing a proprietary Verizon circuit and a Firebox X700 on both ends...

Yeah, I thought that was goofy too. Mike [morning]

Dell Powervault /Server 2003 - vanishing recycle bin

Thanks for the tip! I've already got VSC running. I just like the quick convenience of the recycle bin if I accidentally delete a batch file or script, but yeah, VSC will work too. I wonder why MS decided to do away with the recycle bin with storage server? Mike [morning]

Dell Powervault /Server 2003 - vanishing recycle bin

That would explain why I can't find any help on the issue. It must not be an issue! Thanks for your input. Mike [morning]

Dell Powervault /Server 2003 - vanishing recycle bin

I just set up a Dell Powervault 745N running Server 2003 Appliance Edition. I just realized that there is no recycle bin on the desktop, or in the Windows Explorer! I'm pretty sure it was there before. I found a registry hack that's supposed to restore the recycle bin in XP/2003, but it has...

Server hangs up while logging off

Geez... never mind. I had to reboot. I still need to install the UPS software, though. Any ideas on what's hanging it up? Thanks, Mike [morning]

Server hangs up while logging off

I uninstalled the UPS software (Liebert Multilink) and nothing's changed. I still have the issue. I'm not sure what I'm looking for in Start, Help. I searched using several relevant terms and came up with nothing. Can I have more clues, please? Thanks, Mike [morning]

Server hangs up while logging off

Hi, Just starting recently, when I logoff of my Citrix server, running on Server 2000, I get the End Program dialog telling me that Power Meter is hung up. When I open Control Panel, Power Meter is not there. I replaced the powercfg.cpl file with the copy from the service pack folder, but...

    Can no longer protect worksheets

I opened a spreadsheet from the State of Utah dealing with air emissions, and there was a macro/script to disallow unprotecting the sheet. The trouble is that now I cannot protect or unprotect any spreadsheets, period. I've reinstalled Office to no avail. My Office version is 2003. I've...

    Storage limit question?

This is driving me crazy! I have a Windows Small Business Server 2003 with only two users. It's a very small office. Both users are in the domain admins group. One of the users has a pst file that she's imported into her Inbox, and now she's moving the messages to different public folders...

    BrightStor "Invalid File Header Signature"

Right! I totally forgot to put the version and patch level in my post. We're running version 11.0 build 2670. I'll take your advice and give it a go. Thanks! Mike [morning]

    BrightStor "Invalid File Header Signature"

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that even though the backup job completed successfully, during the verify portion of the job I got a "E3713 Unable to read from media. (MEDIA=M, EC=CONTROLLER FAILURE OR HARDWARE FAILURE)" message. I can't find much of anything on that error either. Mike [morning]

Welcome message for new users in Outlook 2003

There is no answer to this one? Nobody's ever wondered this besides me? Is there some other trick you can use to send an e-mail to first-time logons to Exchange? Mike [morning]

    BrightStor "Invalid File Header Signature"

I see a couple of other entries on this topic, but they didn't help me. I have a backup job that shows that it completed successfully. But when I try to restore one of the files or folders, I get the "invalid file header signature" E3802 error. I applied fix QO54883, but that didn't help...

Welcome message for new users in Outlook 2003

I know you cannot edit the welcome messages provided by Outlook 2003, but can I add a message that each new user receives the first time they open Outlook? This would be a great help to me! Thanks, Mike [morning]
