Exchange 2000 question
In 5.5 you would specify an alternate recipient on the delivery options tab on the properties for the Exchange Admin mailbox.- MicroD

Unable to deliver the message due to a communications failure
It's sounds like you may need to "Recalulate Routing" . You can find this on the properties of the MTA General Tab. I haven't had to do it myself so I would read up on it first. Hope this at least gets you pointed in the right direction.- MicroD
