    Mailing List Recommendation

So I have a few sales people that want to be on some mailing list. One sales person is already on it & says he gets about 200 emails/day. My recommendation was to create a distro-list & have emails sent to everyone that wants them. He said he'd rather there be a dedicated mailbox for them...

ssl_access_log ... append date to the end?

Hey all - Is there a way I can have a date +%F appended to the end of the ssl_access_log file (ie ssl_access_log.2007-03-06) ... short from writing a script to do it for me? Thanks in advance.

Renamed a file and corrupted it

I use Fire Fox as my browser. On my desktop, I had a .html file (with no icon - thats why I was messing with it). I renamed the file: bookmarks.html to bookmarks.url It turned the icon into a 'shortcut' for IE. Now, I cannot right-click & send to an editor ... or open it. If I rename...

    Number translation

I dial an 877 number directly from my desk, and it "somewhere" - but NOT where it should go. When I dial from elsewhere (cell, home) - it goes where I need it to go. How do I find out where that number gets re-translated? I believe I'm dealing with a Definity G3. Thanks in advance. Tom...

Accessing by server name via hosts file

Windows cannot find "\\myserver". Check the spelling and try again, or try searching for the item by clicking the Start button and then clicking Search. It's as if you try to \\ to a machine that doesn't exist. I am just curious as to why it's not reading the server name from the...

Accessing by server name via hosts file

Thanks, When I \\127.0.0.2, I get the folders that are shared ; I don't need to specify a destination share name. When I \\myserver, it fails. The error, is that Windows cannot find the server.

Accessing by server name via hosts file

I don't know what it's called when you \\to_a_server, so it's tough to search on it. I am tunneling SMB over SSH2, so I set up my hosts file to be: 127.0.0.2 myserver When I ping 'myserver' from a command line it works, but when I \\myserver it fails. I am on a corporate network, DHCP (WINS...

    vncserver, ssh and X11 forwarding

Oh yeah ... you have to stay logged in via SecureCRT to keep the port forwarding running ... or you could use Entunnel from VanDyke ... to keep it up and running w/o using SecureCRT.

    vncserver, ssh and X11 forwarding

Note which user you started the vncserver session for. In SecureCRT, create a new session, for logging into your sshd server. In port forwarding, call the name VNC, Use local address port 5901 (for display :1), add in destination IP address and destination port 5901 (for sshd server) Save...

Strange basic authentication issue - limited visibility to some users.

Well, it's fixed. I didn't know we had an apache guru in my office. Come to find out, I had placed another .htaccess file w/in that 'maxtor' directory - which only included 'user1.' With that, the system knew that the other users didn't have access to see what's in the directory - so why show...
