    AVG comment: boot sector error

This must look stupid but I just found out that this AVG message is of no meaning and already detected by Grisoft. Anyway, I also tried the HD in an other computer and the problem wasn't solved by this action. Marc PS. my local time now is 22.20 so I can't reply instandly to anybody.

    AVG comment: boot sector error

I have some trouble with a 10GB HD with W98 that every now and then needs a hard reset because mouse and keyboard don't work at all. The other day I say, by accident, in the AVG (Grisoft Anti Virus) results that the boot sector showed an error. Q1) Can that be the problem for not activating the...

    Bootrecord distroyed

Sorry guys, nothing of the above worked. MBRWORKS looked OK but the end result was nadda. Found this program MADBOOT; also zippo for the regualr formats. I think too many attemps of different programs just destroyed too much for recovery. Doing Low Level Format now but takes a while; 20% in 4...

    Bootrecord distroyed

Believe it or not but the trojan UNASHAMED survived allmost 10 years on a floppy disk. When the floppy was left in the drive and the computer was powered again the next day....... well you can all imagine what happened. Since this virus is from the FAT periode I have not found a tool yet to...

    "files stored on this computer"

Is this limited "Ursula account" similar to the guest account in XPhome? (I have to translate from the Dutch here so maybe a guest account does not exist in the US) The reason is that XPhome does not allow the "guest" to put documents on the PC. Alternatively you make it a full account and...

ActiveX - download .pdf files in IE6

In the place I work useless downloads via IE shall be stopped. Editing the security levels I also disabled most parts about ActiveX controls. This resulted in not be able to see online .pdf files via the web browser because these views are also downloaded. I found the part (execute ActiveX...

    Spreadsheet in text print problem

Last year when I bought a new PC StarOffice5.2 was include on it. Nice free software and I started to use it for Yearly reporting since the implementation of spreadsheet part in text documents was really more easy then in Word. The prints came out perfect and there was no problem. This year...

    Hard disk access denied

Well, after many attempts of integrity checks, it seems a lote of the HDD is bad because it returns with a smaller availability then the label says. Even logical drives can be created [upsidedown] BUT when trying to format track 0 is reported damaged and it refuses to continue. Is there a way...

    Hard disk access denied

Since its IBM the POST does not show. But, suddenly it showed again and as before as if the PRI DOS was never deleted. However doing th esame excersize with fdisk came again to a halt in creating the EXT DOS part. It keeps verifying integrity over and over agian.

    Can't get FDISK to work

0105Quircus, How to format a disk that is not seen by fdisk, fdisk /mbr nor wipeout. I know it stated UNKNOWN when deleting the PRI DOS and changing that to EXT DOS as a slave HDD. However when trying to create logical drives the HDD became unaccessible. See my thread 602-702436 Any help is...

    Hard disk access denied

SYAR2003, Sorry but that program does not see the slave drive. In the meantime I even tried WIPEOUT but this can't reach the HDD either. Anything left to do? [evil]

Dear SYAR2003 I dont have access to the disk so for the disk in question so I cannot run this windows program Beeblebrox on it. Is there another way? In the mean time however I was trying something with a few old HDD's and ended up with a similar problem. HDD1 as master with W98 and running...

    Hard disk access denied

Dementg, answers to youre questions: C: and D: are phisically one one disk as two partitions. I think its formatted as FAT32 because on C: the OS Windows98se is installed. I have had access to the D; part after booting with the reque floppy and then just type C: and D:. Yes, when I used the...

    Hard disk access denied

OK, lets rule out some obvious replies to this! [bigcheeks] The following is what has been performed or tested: 1) The PC can read another HD 2) Cabling is checked, swapped, rechecked and approved 3) PC is accessable from A:\ and than also D-part from HD 4) "fdisk /mbr" has been...

    Hard disk access denied

When starting the PC it does the POST and then asks for the operating system. This happened before and after waiting a while a reboot solved the problem. Now however it doesn't. I looked with chkdsk but it can't read the disk. I looked with fdisk and then the C: drive (pri-dos and Active) shows...

Filling HTML form-option value tags with database query result

DRJ478, Thanks for your support. After a long search through this forum I also found thread 434-615782 and that suggests to use Java as well. Anyway; its possible to do

Filling HTML form-option value tags with database query result

DRL478, Thanks for the response but your talking about HTML output. I'm not really thinking of that. For every combobox used in the Accsess form I thought of making a form with selection options. Instead of programming in HTML all possible options for both lists, I'd like to have the same...
