First get the router to show some type of indication on Hyperterm.. Would with ram and just try and get some indication it is running the post before investing in modules etc.

This is a layer 2 problem which shoulg be handled at the switch level an not at the router. 802.1X with EAP would do the trick.

Vlan info can leave local network if you have trunking enabled between switches. If this a config you plan to use through out the system I would keep the VLAN's consistent. If you aren't trunking (sending vlan info) between switches then vlan #'s don't matter.

Probably hardware component issue. Strip unit down to bare basic's (one piece ram an flash on NM's) and then add back mod's until problem is found. If still freezing with just ram and flash you have to try different ram and flash.

You should be able to have DTE and DCE on the same router on different physical interfaces (not sub interfaces). Clock rate information is seperate on each physical interface.

Look into RSVP for a more specific bandwidth to application reservation and it works well on LAN Technologies.

I have accidentally erased my nvram.! The 3600 now boots to ROMMON mode unable to find the IOS... Is there a way to configure an IP address on the e0/0 and FTP the file from my PC all from ROMMON ? What Should I do? Thanks Rick Cisco Router 3640
