Hi czfip7j
The largest one that will work on a EMC AX100 is a 500GB HD.
If you have an ax150 you can use a 750GB HD.
Check your flare version and compatibility through this site:

OK it seems to work, but with the restore from virtual tape I receive same errors, basically because, the Graphycal interface get the some error from the scanner without the -r option.
So I'm thinking that for a restore ( We think that we will receive 1 or 2 request every year, we can use the...
Hi 605,
Thanks a lot.
Strangely enough if I try the scanner with the file position
-f it give to me the some error, but if i make the -r 1 option "scanner -r 1 -m device_name" he actually give me a warning (unexpected file number, wanted 1 got 2) BUT he go on with the scanner, and just now...
I 605, thanks for the fast answer, I've missed the point in my explanation... so is my fault. the data are from 1999-2000 and around 30% of them are damaged (from a test we have done last year) this was caused from bad conservation, dust places and so on, the media are also shipped from oversea...
Ok here the details:
We have tapes from 1999-2000 that for legacy reason MUST be read only one time.
There is no index stored of the tapes and the only things we know is that they are made with Legato Networker.
They choose to use DD to copy the tape in a raw way to a disk area.
the DD create...
Hi 605,
basically because these media are not inside the client index neither in the mm, so I cannot start a clone process directly, but I must first scan them and then clone them ( and this is 2 read of the same tape), so I have thinked about two solution:
>First do a DD of the tapes on a...
I can probably write back with dd on a new media from the HD, but I'm wondering if legato can manage it even if is on the HD, it will be more simple because is more than 1 thousand media and I don't want to read and write back 1000 media, something like create a fake dlt, even on unix.
^_^
Hi all,
I must handle the media only one time, because the tape is quite old (DLT1) and he is from year 2001.
So instead of using scanner I have made a raw copy of the 4mm tape using dd, and I've positioned it on a disk area.
Now I want to use Legato Networker to scanner the HD copy, but I'm...
Hi all,
A strange thing that I have is that the server has 8 GB of RAM but networker only see 2 GB, (with the about field).
I'm asking this because I've an issue with is probably connected to a resource limit and I'm trying to analyze everything.
My configuration is:
Server
Windows...
Hi ve the suspect that is not an error, this because it said (0x0) and this is usually the correct output of a procedure.
maybe it can be the program that not recognize the signal.
The backup work fine ???
Have you try to open a call to Legato to have an ufficial answer???
let me know..... bye
the index are related to the server configuration and on them is automatically applied the more higher browse/retention time they have.
(If you have two client of the server, one with week and other one with month, the index are saved at month policy)
A solution is to create a pool of cartridge...
The mmrecov command simple recover the media db and the res directory.
To recover the index you must use the nsrck -L7 command.
But is more easy to simple put down the legato services, move the empty index directory to index.OLD and copy your index dir.
Restart the services and all will work...
soory, I must correct myself, the exact procedure to enable the compression is this:
Data Compression
Setting the Data Compression attribute (for chdev, the compress attribute) to yes causes the tape drive to be in compress mode, if the drive is capable of compressing data. If so, then the...
Yes, i know a company that perform the task you are asking about (or similar) you may call them for a demo or simple get a look to the product.
the site is www.terasystem.it and the product is "smartreport".
Good luck.
Hi, the HW compression is enabled on the sdlt and is not related to the type of jukebox you are using.
on AIX is only necessary to use the special devices that enable the compression mode, and automatically the chip on the sdlt enable the feature.
hi
If I don't make a mistake, it is specified in the field near the license, "Legato Networker Power Edition\25", or you can see the value and the remaining license, by issue at the command line : "nsrlic".
