    I have an F80 that was passed on to me. Problem is, I don't know the root password. I mounted a 5.1 CD and rebooted from the cd. When I try to mount the rootvg with a shell, I get the following response (scrolling): /etc/getroofs[486] What does this error mean? Thanks in advance. rvs

    After tarring or copying a file to tape, how would I write a file mark to the tape? (Just to insure that the system knows where the eof is).

    A lot of good suggestions so far... for rewind and ejecting I use: tctl -f /dev/rmt0 rewoffl

    Try this: 1. Delete the "Defined" device (rmdev -dl ttyx) 2. Mount CD 1 of 4 of the installation CD's (mount /dev/cd0) 3. Change dir (cd /dev/cd0/usr/sys/inst.images) 4. Run Config mgr (cfgmgr -vi ./) 5. Display the adapter (lsdev -Cc adapter | grep tty) Good luck!
