Well, this is the method I have been using on my clusters with at least 130 filesystems for distinct packages.
What I don't like is that I have to hardcode for NetWorker information already listed in cluster configuration files.
I was wondering if there is a better solution than hard coding...
For NetWorker, save set value set to ALL means to backup all "local" filesystems.
"Local" filesystems seams to be whatever is in /etc/fstab.
In a MC/SG cluster environment package filesystems are NOT listed in /etc/fstab.
Is there another solution than to manually list all...
Thank you Willem,
Your suggestion is exactly what I have tested so far.
But I am using a savepnpc backup command instead and had to put RMAN script as a pre-command.
This way remote SAN client RMAN backups can be triggered.
Still one question : It seems that client definitions can only be...
On unix server, my OS related backups and Oracle RMAN backups are triggered with the help of unix crontab.
Works fine.
OS backups are triggered by a "savegrp" command but not RMAN backups.
What I would like to do now is to be able to trigger RMAN backups as a dedicated group.
This way...
I am not an Oracle expert, but I have spend a lot of time last year interfacing RMAN and NetWorker in my firm.
To simplify, for DR purposes, our RMAN backup script has been enhanced to do the following :

Thank you all for your replies.

What is the exact definition and purpose of a SAN Storage Node versus "Standard" Storage Node ?
My understanding is that if a tape library is attached to a SAN, any system on the SAN can use it.
i.e A "standard" Storage Node can use it to back-up it's own data and client's...

Using NetWorker v6.0.1 Power Edition license running on HP-UX11.X
In my environment I have set-up 2 jukeboxes as remote devices but I also have an external DLT attached to one of my node.
Is it possible to configure a standalone DLT as a Storage Node ?
What would be the procedure ?
Thank you.
According to what you discribe, i would check :
1) That oracle is in the list of NetWorker administrator
2) If your backup was not done on that particular client, check that oracle account of your new server is configured as a remote user of the initial client.
To check our your backup piece...
I have a problem using NetWorker v6.0.2 build 251 running on HPUX 11.00
In a script, I force tapes into recycle mode using "nsrmm -y -orecyclable volume_name" command.
Tapes are then marked as Eligible for recycling. So far so good.
Problem is that "from time to time" when a...
