I have a similar problem. A developer recently began renaming files to, for example, index-old.html , every time he updated them, and left the old files on the live server. I now notice that the search is picking them up, even though I deleted them. How do I get it to flush out the old deleted...
We have veritas. I will request that the backup be set to be copied to tape via veritas after the backup runs. Thanks!I didn't even think of that.
Other SQL Server DBAs- I would still like to hear your ideas. I want several plans of action :)
Bear with me- I am not experienced in SQL server backup issues at all. The database backup is now at 26.6 GIGs and the disk it is on is a 50 gig disk.
I suspect that it is dangerous and not at all what we want to do to delete the backup from the day before BEFORE we backup again, but of course...
Thanks Adam. I am already using almost the exact same code to output reports on our intranet to excel. But what I really need is to be able to run a query in QA and see the results in the results pane and then choose to save it to excel and have the column headings intact without having to...
It is set to results to grid, and I am exporting by right clicking in the upper left hand box of the grid which selects all the results and choosing save as.
In 'options', 'print column headers' is checked.
Please advise.
I have two sql 2k servers. Server A is the distributor and replicates to Server B via a pull subscription on B. Server A is heavy on writes and Server B is used for Reporting so it is basically only doing Reads. My question is this: If I configure Server B to have a certain page percentage full...
I hate to sound stupid, but I have no idea how to delete the backup file through a job. Do I need a script to do this? If so, do you know where I can get one?
I have enough disk space to hold two backups at a time of one of my sql2k databases. The maintenance plan is set to delete the oldest backup, which it did just fine, until recently. The only thing I can think of that would make this fail now is that the remaining disk space is not enough for...
Hi,
I am wondering if anyone is using IWatch and or Spotlight for SQL server. If so, What are your feelings about it? I am having a meeting with them next week and want some feedback from people who are actually using it. Thanks!
Hello. Is there any reason why backups and other sql server tasks (that do not connect to other network machines) should not run under 'sa'?
I inherited a legacy box set up by someone else and noticed it did not back up the other day. The reason was that it was running under a domain username...
Ok, that is what I thought.
An outside vendor created our website and our search. The other day I noticed files that come with IIS such as the iisadmin.htm iishelp.htm etc files showing up in a search for "help" on our website. Further investigation revealed that the form action on...
Ok, but here is a scenario... You have MSSQLServer service running under some domain account and that domain account gets changed by your network guys... do they tell you about it first? Do you even have the service running under a domain account? It has to doesn't it?
I am interested in finding out what the standards (if any) are in companies in terms of their password changing policies, as well as what type of authentication your apps connecting to sql server use, what kinds of authentication the services run under, etc.
My company is in the process of...
We use DTS packages to get info out of Oracle into SQL server. But as far as I know, you have to use SQL to query Oracle. I don't know of a way to get Oracle to talk to SQL server. Maybe you can change your methodology a bit to get this to work. Have a trigger fire off a dts package that gets...
I am looking for any information I can find on IIS backup and recovery. I am told that you can only restore IIS5 to the same server. What happens if your server catches on fire? Any help would be appreciated.
