Our NW6 server has just started displaying the error message, "Intruder lock-out on account .UNIX Service Handler" after a restart. To my knowledge we do not use any Unix modules, native files system or Unix printing on this server. It appears that the password has either been...
It's a 2 user SQL version of Btrieve 7, better than Btrieve but built for small business use and the NetWare internal databases. There are a number of accounting, distribution and manufacturing apps that use it.
Novell Press released the Novell's Guide to Netware 6 Networks this past winter, 1400 + pages. I believe it's in the $50 range, includes CD's and a 5 user license. There's also an Admins guide in the $35 range.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum, so bear with me. We have had a Cisco 802.11b network for over a year. Up until now all of our notebooks and PDA devices have connected across a firewalled VPN making me happy. Recently the top execs have been playing with T-Mobile Pocket PC phones, opening...
While your waiting for the built in conversion, you can get a utility called Conversion Plus from DataVis for less than $60 at CDW. It will convert nearly every word processor, spreadsheet, graphics and data file. It will also convert PC to Mac and back.
jhupe,
We have a Netware 6 network running on 2 Dell 2450 servers. We just installed an ADR50 TBU with Backup Exec 9 and have had no luck getting it working. The drive is connected to a separate AH2940 board. It is recognized ob boot and by the HCT util but we can't read or write to it. BE...
That is true, if you follow the explicit proceedure. But we have a fully configured working server with iPrint, iFolder, etc. To move this server into our existing tree, requires removing DS from the server and installing the server into our existing tree. I'm just not sure this will work...
Alain,
We want to avoid using DSMerge, especially knowing that our NW5 DS is at NDS 8.78 and the NW6 DS is at eDir 8.6.2. We also want the NW6 server in the same partition and OU as the NW5 servers. I know this can be done by installing a new server into the existing tree by preparing it with...
Thanks Vlad,
I know the remove and reinstall proceedure, I tried it today moving a NW6 server into another NW6 tree, this is fairly easy. My concern is moving a NW6 server into a NW5 tree. Will the schema extend properly? The NW5 tree is at DS 8.78 with all the latest patches and server.exe...
We need more info. What protocols are running? Is there a login script? Can you see both servers in My Network Places? What SP on all OS? What rev client?
We have a Netware 5 network and have been testing a Netware 6 server in a separate tree. Now that the tests have been completed, we would like to move the server into our company tree. The only way I know is dsmerge, but that's not how we wish to proceed. We don't need any of the objects...
We have an NW5 server w/ SP6a, it backs up 4 NW servers and 2 Linux boxes very well. Our problem is the Citrix server, backups run at a good clip, approx 200 MB/min, but verify reports errors 15030 and 15036, connection failures on C: and D:, yet the System Stat is OK. Has anyone seen this before?
What NOS are we talking about, I haven't seen this in years. this is a well known bug in NW 3.x and early 4.x. Check out support.novell, search for TID 1001017, this should lead you in the right direction.
Thanks for the info, I will look into that product. The problem I have has more to do with authentication. I am scheduled for the NW6 workshop this week, if I get a working answer I will publish it here.
Thanks again,
Al
We have been testing NW6 for 2 months and I have applied the SMS
patch and beta patch 011210n6.exe with DS 8.6.1 and NICI 2.0.1. So
far it's fairly stable with GW6, Apache and iFolder, the NW Enterprise
Web Server and NDPS have not faired as well (but that's another
story). Our biggest problem...
