We have rolled out Communicator 2007 to our users and there are a bunch of them that are having issues with it. They can open Communicator and can add people to their contact list and see when people are online. They can NOT initiate an instant message and when they get an instant message they...
Make sure there are no errors in the event logs for your DNS servers. Even though scavenging is enabled, has it been running? Can you force it to run and check your logs to see if there are any errors?
good luck,
What is 4.2.2.2? Is that your local DNS server?
Have you checked the event logs on your local DNS server to see if there's any information in there to help you?
Good luck,
You shouldn't click FULL CONTROL - this gives anyone the ability to change security permissions - Check everything EXCEPT full control to prevent your users from making security tab changes. Only administrators should have FULL access.
Good luck,
The switch in the closet that provides the power for your POE phone might also be having a problem. Perhaps your telecom folks can take a look at the port level to see if there are any errors cropping up on the line that feeds the phone itself.
Otherwise, I agree with Ben - try a different NIC...
I've never seen this before. Are you sure you're not infected with some virus/worm/malware? Nothing like that is ever dropped on my external USB drives....
Good luck,
What you want to do is add them as a local administrator to just that machine.
From the server in question, right-click on the "My Computer" icon and go to manage. When the Computer Management window opens, on the left-hand side, expand the "Local Users and Groups" section. Click on Groups...
The way we manage this is
1. Auto-update is turned OFF for all servers
2. All patches and updates are TESTED FIRST!
3. We have our own internal WSUS server for patch management, so we can roll out our tested patches to all clients and servers.
This might have helped prevent this in your...
The easiest" would depend on your perspective ShackDaddy. Forwarders, even domain-specific forwarders have always been more problematic from our perspective.
This is why we prefer the secondary zone. We will be trying the stub zone approach when the need comes up next time.
I've never used stub zones, but it might work as well. I prefer a secondary forward lookup zone becuase it brings in all DNS records for that zone, so that the local DNS server can just resolve all requests locally. I believe with a stub zone, the DNS server has to query the other DNS server...
Readyboost made a noticable difference when I started using it and I have 3gb ram already. My SD card is only 2gb and I use 1.8gb of that for readyboost.
good luck,
Try removing the ram again and booting without it (you still have one in there right?) If that works, make sure you seat the ram back in there properly.
It's also possible that static electricity caused you some problems. Were you properly grounded before you removed the ram the first time...
Using a company computer for personal use is never a good idea. Now that you have been fired, your access to THEIR computer has been revoked. Trying to get around that would be a violation of law (yes it's a crime to gain unauthorized access to a computer). I would follow Davetoo's advice...
I think what you need to do is make sure the 2 DNS servers are set-up to allow zone transfers to each other. Transfer the zone from domain A onto the DNS server for domain B. Do the reverse for domain B onto domain A. Once the zones are transfered and synced your nslookup should work.
Good luck,
It's been my experience that if you don't reboot after changing your settings, it's possible they will be lost. As habit I reboot after changing my settings now.
Good luck,
Are you logging into the machine as a local administrator, or do you have restricted-user rights? Are you logging on to the local machine or do a network domain?
