try connecting something to both vlans, i think you will find the routes only appear when the vlan is up (and that only happens when there is an active device on the network).
None that i can think of, although always read the release notes carefully. Depending what version you are upgrading from, you may need to upgrade in one than one stage
You should always have the highest numbered 55xx as the base unit. Nortel do not support 5510 as base unit with 5530 as non-base.
I agree you should make the 5530 the base unit and try again.

Gerhard,
I have seen similar problems with newer software (4.1), where multicasts and sometimes broadcasts are going missing across MLT/SMLT trunks when a failure occurs somewhere else in the network. This is in a very similar setup to the one you have (OSPF/SMLT/VRRP).
At the moment we are...
I seem to remember reading something about a known issue with PP1400 that the SysUpTimer (or some other counter) cycles after about 49 days (4096000 seconds) and the switch reboots. I have seen this with other networking equipment in the past and is normally solved in a later (bug fixed) version...
Segment 1 will contain all nodes on all three switches. HPOV in its standard form cannot detect which switch these nodes are on, they are just devices in a network segment (subnet).
You must not leave ISDN interfaces managed as they will be polled by HPOV and the lines will be up all the time (and give you a huge bill to pay).
With out knowing how you have set up data collection i cannot really comment, however you do not need to store the data. Just set it up to not sture...
Ayrish Girl,
This trap is part of an s5000 mib (system 5000 now long defunct) but still used by Baystacks. Its a chassis problem trap which on a Baystack normally indicates a fan failure.
If the switch is local, put your hand over each of the fan holes and see if the fan is turning.
I have the...
What you require for this function is OSM , Optivity Switch Manager. This provides a basic network topology as well as inventory and backup of configurations (in the latest version) v4.x. Its about $800 i think
Hi,
The only way of 'multinetting' is to use IP subnet based vlans. I have implemented this at one customer where the baystack had one vlan with 3 subnets. Then configure the uplink port on the Passport for the 3 ip subnets. The packets will then drop into the subnets. BEWARE though, there is a...
If you have a look at the ports using device manager, you will see that the ports are coloured green, yellow and red. If i remember correctly , all ports are 'yellow' which means potential members of the vlan. You can make ports always memebers (green) or never a member (red). It will work out...
Yes Russell. So moving on from unmanaging the interfaces. You can you Data Collection and thresholds to check the value of ifOperStatus on the router. 1 being up, 2 being down (see help for more). Therefore if the threshold goes below 2 then the line is up ! when it goes back to 2 then its down...
If you want to route IPX using ARU1s then you will need to install a stand alone router and connect it to each of your IPX vlans you want to route between. Yes an IPX protocol based vlan (of the correct frame type) would do
Yes i agree with the last post. Make sure AutoPVID is turned on before you start configuration. Then the correct PVID will be given to each VLAN. Otherwise go through and change every port so that the PVID matches the VLAN id
