Have you recently installed a digital camera onto the system ???
Just a theory, but I had the same problem with 2K after I installed a camera using 98 drivers (DUH !!!)
Easiest way to do this is to Backup all your data first (Pics, Docs etc)
Then just boot from the Win 2000 cd and let the installer re-format the drive and install.
You should be fine then.
In theory, you have paid for 2 licences. 1 for Xp and 1 for 2000.
There aren't any restrictions on what hardware you can install the OS's
Strange question I know, but the built in Firewall in XP hasn't been turned on has it ????
I had the same thing and when I set the new hub up, for some reason it turned it on.
From memory I had the same problem about a year ago.
I managed to contact 3dfx before they were bout out and they said "that they are aware of it and it should still be enabled. Just not in Direct X"
I kept meaning to follow this up to make sure. but I never got the time
I had the same problem with Win2K
The only way I could solve this was to download NVmax.

There is an option to "Fix Windows 2000 Compatibility"
Give it a try.
Try this:
Since your having problems with explorer, go to Start, Run and type in the following
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\setup.exe
Once you the file, it will ask you "Do you want to rollback to a previous version of IE"
That should do it
