one thing to check before you get your dsl line is what can you actully do with it it if your a gamer then avoid homechoice for example because netmeeting is a no show with them

you said its lost the cd rom was your system seeing it before?? in post does the bios see it ?? is there power to it ie does the light come on? is it on your primary or secondary controller?? are the jumpers set right?

try removing the secondary ide controller from device manager then restart your machine it will reload and should solve your prob

Ok thanks my O/s is WinME p3 550 320mb ram voodoo 5500 the usb is using IRQ 10 as for usb devices a alactel modem, thrustmaster afterburner joystick ,web cam...... if i plug the modem into the bad port i do get a red flashing light even when i remove the usb hub from device manager...
