Bizarre problem configuring TCP/IP settings. Set the gateway address in the TCP/IP property pages but it doesn't register. Winipcfg or ipconfig shows default gateway blank, but registers DNS, IP address and subnet. Identical configuration working on other machines. Can ping router but not browse...

I operate in a similar environment and also intermittently have this problem. Microsoft explain this error with "This is typically caused when the Jet database engine was improperly shut down during the process of writing to disk". Very helpful.
