Hi linney, thanks, but the article doesn't quite apply. I have no USB1.1 FDD devices, in fact, at this point, the old USB1.1 controller is completely shut down and removed.
Also, USB2.0 support is via a PCI card, not my BIOS.
bcastner - true, MS doesn't recommend or support the method I...
Oh well, I jumped the gun.
As soon as I plugged in my HP 7550 everything went down the toilet. ACPI is about as stupid as things can get, I have now every single device crammed on one IRQ. I've switched around cards on different slots, and made adjustments in the BIOS, but all it seems to do is...
The Siig card is based on the NEC chipset, actually.
I wound up returning it, and getting a generic CompUSA card based on the ALI chip. I figured I might want to stay away from the NEC chip, just in case.
I also installed the MS patch mentioned above by bcastner.
After installing the new ALI...
I've got a system with an EPOX EP-8KTA3PRO KT133A based mobo, running XP Pro SP1a, and, wishing to upgrade to USB 2.0, I installed a SIIG 4+1 USB 2.0 PCI controller card from Best Buy.
After booting up and installing the drivers, I started to experience frequent lockups, about every 3 minutes...
Hi all,
I'm almost done writing an inf file for win98 and win2000/xp that simply uses the addreg command to fill in values for the domain suffix search order in the registry of the workstations. (neither our dhcp or dns servers are MS here).
The problem is, XP, if I'm not mistaken...
All i want to do is make a simple script, that when double clicked , clears the clipboard, then puts a fixed text string (my login id) into it, something like setclipboardata()".lpphiggp.myverylong.andsilly.context.ou"
(I have no idea if that's even close)
Then I can just manually...
Check the win.ini file for extra printer entries. The first clue would be that the file is too big to open in notepad, would you like to open it in wordpad. If so, wipe out the printer entries.
Secondly, there's a registry key that should be altered per Novell TID 10057003 and 10058895...
The aab file could be related to zenworks import utility.
Load server manually from DOS with:
C:\nwserver\server -na -ns
Type loadstage 1
wait a sec, then type startup.ncf
now type mount sys:
Is it there now ? Or only once java is loaded ?
Here's another possible option:
In windows 2000 you can just print directly via IP.
Oddly though, the process starts by specifiying that you want to create a local printer, not a network printer.
Then you create a new port and choose Standard TCP/IP port, just follow the wizard. Works great for...
Yep, we're using the CANWPA driver, we found out early that Novell's NWPA had a memory leak in SP4 :-)
I really have no problems finding the devices, only reading or writing to tapes, and this thing is brand new.
It seems to be working now though.. for now. I'm going to be keeping a very close...
I wondered about the card. I don't think the DLT is capable of 160MB/s, even though they should negoiate to the top speed of the Dell. Thanks for the mention of the new driver, I'll check that out !
Interestingly, here's the latest development: Netware itself sees the DLT as unbound device...
Well, like I said earlier, yes, I have the Tape Library option. I've used ARCserve for years, but this is the first time I've used a DLT autochanger. After a reboot, it did begin to see the tapes as *blank*, but I still can't write to them. I get the following errors now:
E6929 : Check cables...
I'm probably missing something basic about DLT drives, but I just brought up a new Netware 6/SP2 server, installed ARCServe 7 on it, applied all the very latest AS patches and the tape library option. The tape drive is a Dell PV120T-DLT1, and it came with 7 DLT IV tapes.
I created a one time...
There are patches available for NW5.1 SP4 and AS7.
The main thing however, is to disable the use of NWASPI from the startup.ncf, and let AS7 automatically use CANWPABD instead. Otherwise you'll run into a memory leak problem.
From CAI's website:
TO CONFIGURE CANWPABD (for use with .ham...
My experience with ArcServe has been nothing but pain and frustration.
My opinion, after months and months of struggling with it, is that it is not at all acceptable.
Keep away from it if you value your sanity and your job.
At work we currently have no less than 3 different problems with it at...
Just to add, very often, setting the parameters in the client properties box does not work, and is not written to the registry as it should.
In that case, I've found that by far the most effective means of insuring the proper default login parameters is to go directly to the key...
