    Suggestions please=> Very solid/reliable ITSP ??

    The location is mid-northern Vermont - BUT: For ITSP services, why would that matter a'tall ???

    Partner ACS7 w/ Centrex...time for VOIP now.

    Hence my mentioning adding ATAs before it - which is VERY cost effective, thanks.

    Partner ACS7 w/ Centrex...time for VOIP now.

    I see that you are insisting that sticking with analog lines is what should be done...OK; Got it. Now - as plainly stated as possible: WE'RE NOW LOOKING TO REPLACE THE ANALOG LINES WITH VOIP, THANK YOU !!! I know the area & what CLECs there are...TW is not here; Comcast does not serve the area...

    Partner ACS7 w/ Centrex...time for VOIP now.

    Thanks for replying. Fair(ly)Point(less) is the telco which is tripling his monthly bill right now & all he has gotten from them thus far is threats of ever higher charges; GWI is out of Biddeford ME and does not serve Vermont at all, sadly.

    Suggestions please=> Very solid/reliable ITSP ??

    Howdy Folks. I will soon need to help switch a friend's small office from PSTN to VOIP. Finding a suitable ITSP is presently the focus of my query here. I am well aware of many ITSPs as I use a couple of lower priced ones - but what is desired in this situation is to find a very solid source...

    Partner ACS7 w/ Centrex...time for VOIP now.

    Thanks for replying. That is sort of a non-issue, really. I had suggested switching to VOIP when the contract was due for renewal and he couldn't get his head around it back then - but now that the telco is hammering him for way more $$$, suddenly it looks pretty good to him !! CLECs are...

    Partner ACS7 w/ Centrex...time for VOIP now.

    Sometime back I installed this system for a friend who had (foolishly IMO) agreed to extend his Centrex contract with the telco. The system is 100% fine and not anyplace near all its features are even in use. It is a small office with three people who need only basic phone functions. The most...

    ACS R8 PC Admin mystery.

    Thanks for replying Lbertyinstaller. From all the reading I did, I seem to remember that the stuff about hunt group 6 & ext 76 were about using a modem to connect rather than a direct connection via serial to the admin port... Am I mistaken in that recollection ?? Thanks.

    ACS R8 PC Admin mystery.

    Thanks Again TouchToneTommy !! The next time I'll be traveling that way will be (roughly) in a couple of weeks and if I have enough time I will try what you've suggested. The system is in place and functioning acceptably - all except for the PC Admin. It was attempted from a total of 5...

    Does ANYONE speak 'Amanda' here ??

    Thanks for that suggestion Redphone !! I may have tried something like that as I noticed it, and the Amanda tech I was in contact with also mentioned removing the quotes, but; I may not have tried it exactly as you've described. So, the next time I'll be traveling that way will be (roughly) in...

    ACS R8 PC Admin mystery.

    Unfortunately there are too many possible points of failure in connecting an ACS for the admin s/w to a 'modern' PC... Tried it on a nice, fully functional XP PC with a DB9 serial port at COM1 - and the s/w itself failed; Altogether tried using it from 5 different PCs - none worked more than...

    Does ANYONE speak 'Amanda' here ??

    Neat idea - thanks TouchToneTommy !! It is all ready for travel right now, but when I get it there I'll read the manuals and see if that is something it'll do - I think I remember that it does, but me olde braine isn't as reliable as looking in the manuals... Thanks Again.

    ACS R8 PC Admin mystery.

    OK, thanks for un-confusing that !! As I'd mentioned - no modem was involved in my connections, which worked fine, on and off for weeks between the very same Admin port, cable, USB to serial adapter, and PC. So maybe it is the port gone bad after all. That would be very sad as the rest of...

    ACS R8 PC Admin mystery.

    Interesting. Thanks again !! It failed with the backup card in place actually. Yes - one of the backup cards here says remote access on it and one is just a backup/restore card. Now I'm a smidgin confused though - doesn't the very presence of the RJ45 port labeled 'Admin' in an R7 or 8 ACS do...

    ACS R8 PC Admin mystery.

    Thanks Telecomboy. Indeed I did - as well as trying it with & w/o the backup/restore card, wiggling around the RJ45, re-installing the USB to serial adapter driver, using a different adapter, rebooting the PC, changing the COM port back & forth from 1-2, and even tried it from my NB PC thinking...

    ACS R8 PC Admin mystery.

    I have been getting this system ready to put into place for a friend. Programing the system functions via station 10 is no problem - but I did find button programming had me making errors because of the slight differences between stations. So I tried the PC Admin software on an XP PC and it...

    Does ANYONE speak 'Amanda' here ??

    Despite the age of all this stuff and the difficulties in tracking down the exact info needed, the system is finally as finished as it is likely to get. After being advised to look in the pertinent files in the Amanda's HDD I found that 110 & 112 are exactly the same. 111 is a bit different -...

    A final question about backup, please.

    That was an obvious test - and also one I am reluctant to perform while I am working on other aspects of this system that are being troublesome. All the info I've seen about both cards indicates that they are compatible with all versions - but that is also what I would expect from folks who...

    Does ANYONE speak 'Amanda' here ??

    I carefully tested all 4 ports that the Amanda is using and all appears well. The only thing I cannot do right now is tap into port 34 with a butt set to listen to the DTMF tones after leaving a new VM...I have to wait until it is in place to do that. Configuration-wise, I have also tried all...

    A final question about backup, please.

    We will be using the R8 system only & hopefully will soon get a spare one & get rid of the R6. All the stuff that came along with the R6 system is here though, and... I forgot that the R6 system came with a Lucent Backup/Restore Card, so=> I have that to use as well as the Avaya Partner ACS...
