Thanks Skip. I am a new member and was not sure how to do this. I thought the issue was solved in the first thread and posted that it was. I did then post this same note as a reply to my original thread but thought it might just lay there.
Trying to select the top N scores plus ties from a query. Please see thread767-1723005
This approach works well unless the top N scores are all the same and then it returns too many scores.

It should pick up only the 6.0 as the top 3. Instead it picks up all 5 scores...
I thought all was well with the solution that Bob proposed above. However, if the first N fields are all the same rank then it picks up the next field as well. IE, if N = 3 and the scores are:
6.0

6.0
5.8
5.8

I found a closed thread that appears to do just what I want to do but I get an error when I try to implement the formula. lbass offered the solution.
