Install latest Symantec Drivers.
power cycle the device and the server
Checked for any SCSI related issues
Event 9,11 and 15 in the System Event logs .
Backup exec is the only product that has good penetration and flexibilty
Backup Exec does support Autoloaders .
Support is excellent too.

Historic jobs in the queue?
Do you mean to say u have jobs in the queue that are not required?
They should not consume your bandwidht unless all jobs are parallely running trying to reach your resources over the network to be backed up .
There is no tool that will clean up your job queue on...
Remote agents of previous versions 9, 10,11,12 will not be compatible with the current version 12.5
But if you would like to restoredata from the tapes or medias that were backed up previous versions of Backup exec you will still be able to read them from the current versions of Backup Exec
