Thanks for the reply. I found my problem. Here the machine was surged. The +12volts was staying on in the power supply. I swapped out the supply. All is cured. So much for solid state switching. Thanks again for the input.
I'm working on an "e monster 500a". When the machine is shut down, the power supply fan and cpu fan continue to run. This creates a feedback noise thru the speakers and flickers a keyboard light. I do not think this is normal. Anyone ever see this before and know of a remedy ...

micheal64- I have to know if it's true you have to use ECC ram. I plan to use 1.5 gig of pc133. I was told to use ECC and turn off the Ecc function in bios.
I was given a Tyan Tiger 133 mobo. It is rev. C with a new bios v. 1.05 in it. The chipset is a VIA Apollo Pro 133A. The chips are vt82c694 and vt82c596b . Anyone out there with some insight on this board and what I might expect from it ? I've heard it was flakey.And is it true you must use ECC...
