Motoslide, There is indeed Intelligent Life in Oregon. Thanks mate. I've had access to my customer (in south east London - UK) via modem this morning and followed your sugestion. /var/opt/K/SCO/Unix/5.0.6Ga/sa/backup contains a file named media This in turn shows /dev/rmt/Sc0s0...- MikeinHorwich

Thanks for the suggestion PHV. Already checked that directory and it doesn't store the media size that was entered via the Backup facility on the GUI screen.- MikeinHorwich

5.0.6 version. Re-installed yesterday at a site to overcome unrelated problem. At end of Unix re-install was able to use backup manager on GUI screen to restore software & data. When setting Media Default values I set volume size to 4000000000 by mistake. relinked kernal, shut-down, re-started...- MikeinHorwich
