yes it makes sense, I am not sure how to enter this connection information after the fact, after the RDL is existing. I can enter this connection info from scratch, is that what to do, start it over, enter the connection info, then bring in the RDL?
On the dataset there is an SQL statement that selects the records although it is in a test mode, there would have to be parameters eventually. Run I hit preview there is an error: " An error occurred during local report processing. The item /Datasource1 cannot be found"

I have a template from someone else, an RDL that is loosly modeled on one of my reports. This is called Report1.RDL
There is an error when I double click on Report1.RDL
"One or more errors encountered while loading the designer. Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1 position 1."
this is...
I am having trouble deploying an RDL that was created.
I really need to be able to speak to someone on the phone in real time and see about ironing this thing out. I am able to pay for someone's time for this. I think I have a basic understanding of this after less than a week but I could use...
I defined then using the Report tab where it says "Report Parameters" but previously I had done the parameters a different way because I did not have this issue. (Unfortunately I was cleaning up and deleted the report that had been working ok)
I put this simple declare and comparison but it doesn't work
DECLARE @StartDate NVARCHAR(15)
SELECT
IV00101.ITMGEDSC,
IV00101.ITEMDESC,
RM00101.CUSTNAME,
RM00101.CPRCSTNM,
IV40600.UserCatLongDescr,
CATS.UserCatLongDescr,
SOP10200.ITEMNMBR,
SOP10200.SOPNUMBE,
SOP10200.QUANTITY...
OK thanks that makes sense, just one thing, what is this "it" that I upload? I mean that I created a project does the entire project get uploaded?
and how does it get uploaded?
I want to make sure that I have the Reporting services environment correctly installed. I have no background in SSRS or SQL Server for that matter. I wrote many Crystal Reports that now have to be converted.
It is not too difficult to get an RDL converted file from Crystal but the question is...
I set up parameters for dates on the
where SOP10100.DOCDATE >= @Startdate and SOP10100.DOCDATE <= @Enddate
but am getting an error message: Must declare the scalar varibale @Startdate
What I don't understand is how to use this RDL.
This is what I have done so far.
I open Visual Studio and select the Report Wizard. It asks me for the data connection and then it wants a Query. Do I use the query that I was using for the Crystal Reports? It does work of course but the data is...
Brett, it was just from someone who developed it on his own, it's not a live product yet. I am looking at rpttprdl.com and am waiting for their email verification.
