With this solution, the user can still override the default values ( unless I am missing something )... not what I want. Also, Person columns don't seem to support a default value. I'm "afraid" I will have to write some code using Share Point Developer to implement this functionality.
Sharepoint 2007 > I have created a custom list for requesting a service. I would like to "stamp" each record with the date of the request and who made the request. I can get the user to enter the date and his/her name ... but I would prefer to automate that ... less entries and no potential...
The FROM site is a comprehensive model ... not live.

I developed a mock-up share point on a small site. The model was approved. Now, the structure and contents must be moved to a newly approved "big" site. Apparently, that can be done ... the question is > How? Moving my structure and contents would save me a "ton" of re-development time. Thanks.

Shucks, I figured it out myself! Added a zone at the bottom using SP Designer. Added a Content Editor Web Part to the zone. Added some text. Edited the web part ... got rid of title and changed chrome type from default to none. Works great.
