I guess I may give up before trying, like I said I was just going to try to learn something new, I saw a table at Cisco.com that showed that on the 2514 I could go up to 12.2B29 or something like that, and I don't even know what you are referring to when you say AUI transceiver, so I guess I am...- akakingess

I probably wasn't clear enough, I actually know (via google and cisco) that the 2514 will use only up to 12.2 and that I need to set up a tftp server to send it to the router, but I have been told by others that know more than me that it can not be done through the console port. I am just now trying to learn some Cisco hardware/ IOS and have been given a 2514 (please don't laugh ;) I was wondering if there was any way possible to upgrade the IOS in the router via the console port. I have been able to connect via the console port, and the router is running v 12.0 right...- akakingess
