I have two drives in a Tru64 LVM mirror. One of these drives has failed and I require some assistance in replacing it without destroying the good copy.
I understand this cannot be done as a "hot-swap" activity but do not understand the correct...
C is a licences product from IBM and as such you are required to purchase the native AIX C compiler - it is circa $US500.
There are however a number of gnu C compilers which will probably do the job for you.
Search against "AIX C compilers" and you will find the shareware sites where...
Clearly the need should be assessed first and the hardware should fit the need.
If you are backing up only 10Gb, 4mm DAT will suffice but this is not a durable medium and you will not be future-proofed.
DLT is a sturdy medium and 7000 and 8000 models will give you up to 80Gb compressed data...
I have a solution to this problem.
The 'mklv' script calls on the lvgenminor executable which assigns a minor number to the logical volume. This is placed in the CuDvDr object class of the ODM.
By running just the lvgenminor routine with appropriate parameters you can generate 'dummy' minor...
I have a requirement to modify the minor number of a logical volume as a result of an MQSeries bug.
I believe I can edit the ODM with an odmchange in the CuDvDr to change this number but am unsure whether this will produce the desired effect - and as with all ODM edits (proceed with caution).
