Hi Michell,
If you've already picked you're hardware you're probably going to have a really hard time meshing it with software. Most POS software requires specific hardware.
Comes down to the kind of hardware you have. If you let us know we might be able to help.
We've done some things like this and all I have to say is good luck :).
It really depends on how you need to interact with the system that you're building for - could be by way of accessing their database, through some type of SDK, screen scrapping, etc.
OPOS is a standard but I don't think it...
Hi PDreyer,
Thanks for the feedback - I'm so unfamiliar with the product I didn't know the difference.
I did end up getting it to work... It was just a bad backup.
Thanks
Hi everyone,
I'm having a disk queue length issue and I'm trying to figure out what exactly is causing it.
What I'd like to do is setup a performance counter so that when disk queue goes over a certain point it will start logging the SQL queries that are being executed.
Anyone have any...

I was able to take the db file and use Sybase to unload the database into a new database AND it seemed to be working properly - then I got an exception - see below;
Unloading "DB1"."Worksheet" (6943 rows)
Unloading "DB1"."TransactionEntries" (12125407 rows)
***** SQL error...
One more comment on this - I was able to download the developer version of SQL anywhere and I have the .db and transaction log file but I'm unsure of what to do next.
One thing that looked close to right, was the function that allows you to unload a database into a new database file. Am I on...
Thanks for all the great feedback everyone.
Ethical versus legal - macleod1021, don't be quick to judge. Just because I'm asking doesn't suggests that I'm doing anything unethical. There are plenty of things that are illegal that I wouldn't consider unethical and vis versa.
"Ask the company...
Hello,
I have a backup with the extension ".db" and a log file with the .txt extension and I'm 99% sure it's a Sybase backup or the data files themselves. I need data from one table in that database into Microsoft SQL and am not sure how to access the .db file.
Is it possible for me to...
I've also seen good rates from Heartland. The key to getting absolutely the best deal is getting bids from about 3 companies and have them fight it out. My 2 cents.
Hi Mike,
It really depends on what kind of hardware you purchased along with the software. If I had to take a guess I'd say the OPOS drivers for your printer and cash drawer are not setup properly.
With RMS your reseller can be your best friend if you've got a good one. I'd give them a call.
Hi Alex,
I thought about the ethics forum but reflection is a .NET thing (I think) so I figure it might not be understood in general context.
I wish their was an API - part of the reason I'm doing what I'm doing is becuase of the companies inability to get it done, they have nothing even close...
You won't get any kind of decent touch screen interface with ARSS, we used to use it. Still built on old Fox Pro database technology that's nearing the end of it's life cycle too. Buck - you must have paid an arm and a leg for that much hand holding..?
Microsoft RMS is a good option IMO...
Hi Everyone,
Are there any legal repercussions to reflecting someone else's code? I'm not trying to steal anything - I have a client who wants something done with a custom piece of software and I'm trying to figure out how the core application does it so I can replicate the behavior.
Anyone...
