I have migrated to a new AIX 6.1 server on Oracle 10.2.0.4 but get an error message stating that the disk size is incorrect.
Oracle support states that you cannot have disk sizes over 2TB but mine are no larger that 1.6TB. If I create the disks to be 1TB then all is well.
Has anyone else had...
I applied 5300-07 TL and it said failed when completed. I then ran lppchk and it mentions the following.
lppchk: The following filesets need to be installed or corrected to bring

I am doing a backup of 3 large filesystems and currently it is taking multiple tapes to backup these filesystems and it's all going to one tape drive.
I do however have multiple tape drives available to me and was wondering if there is anyway for sysback to use multiple drives at once in...
I am updating to 5300-07 Service Pack 3 from 5300-05-01 and was wondering how long the update could possibly take. the download is about 2GB in size.

Just would like to know some best practices are when doing a mksysb on a system.
Can we do a mksysb when the system is in use?
How often should we do a mksysb?
Things like the above would be appreciated.
Thank You
Thank you for the response, I will add it as a hot spare to the array. So the array candidate simply means that its ready to be assigned to an array as another disk then.
Thank You
Thank you for the link it has very good info. I guess my question is do I just create it as an Array Candidate or do I add it as a hot spare? The previous admin did not leave documentation on what he did and I am just getting back into AIX.
Thanks
I have just acquired a server farm running Oracle 10g on Linux servers. Well the servers have not been updated with patches since they were installed a few years ago and am wondering if updating will cause an issue for the Oracle databases?
Also if there are some best practices to follow that...
I have a question about an array candidate. We had a drive fail yesterday morning but thankfully a spare drive was available for the array to use. So I get the new drive yesterday and replaced it and in my documentation it mentions adding the drive as an Array candidate but was wondering what...
