I think it is a 2003 database that I am trying to open with 2007 Access...
I will check what you said about permissions, but I have set 2 users to full control and they are both having trouble...

If I got to a shared folder on any client machine, and navigate to the folder that contains the .mdb file, I double click it and then get the problem...
I also get the problem if I open trough Access or have Access open when I double click the .mdb

If I try and open an Access 2007 database from a client machine, it stops responding and the server hangs. I can Ctrl, Alt & Del but when I click task manager, it doesn't open...
The server then needs to be restarted...
I can open any other file type with no problems and copy files to and...

This problem occurs whenever I open an Access 2007 database. I have opened 100MB PDFs, spreadsheets, numerous images, etc all fine, but if I try and open an .mdb it falls over and I have to restart the server to get access again...

I am now having the same trouble again...
Everything seems fine until I open a certain database on a client. The database hangs then I end task on Access to close it. After this procedure neither this user or myself can access the server. We can both ping it by name and IP but not browse...
Have re-installed AD and have one user connecting to their shares with no problems. Am going to start adding more users this afternoon...

Yes it is. I had so much trouble with it yesterday that I removed Active directory. I am re-installing it now to see if that helps...
If not, do you think something as drastic as a fresh OS install will help..?

After a bit of googling I found that I should have my server ip in my hosts file in my system32 directory. I added this and it seemed to have solved the problem...
20 mins later tho and similar, but not the same problem.

It seems like it is now losing the connection on one adapter and when I change it, nothing happens. Then if I change it back, I can ping it, but if I do anything on the server it freezes (constant hourglass)...
