Did get into the BIOS via F10 and tried all kinds of things. What we did was remove the original 4 GB drive and just use a new 60 GB drive.
Thanks to all.

Recently I had a paper jam which I cleared as best as possible, taking care not to screw up the equipment, by pulling the paper out slowly. Now, for the first time, it's cockeyed when printing. How can I best fix this? Take it in to an authorized repair dealer in my area or ?
Thanks,
David
I recently bought a used computer as backup; it's a Compaq Presario. I erased everything, reformatted the hard drive (4 GB) and reinstalled my Win 98 SE. Everything went fine. Later I tried to read something from a floppy disk. Got the message: "You are not authorized to access this device!" I...
I have a Gateway Solo Notebook w/Win 98 SE and 64MB RAM. I had a G85 installed to print to the SMC100 (SMC7004ABR) Barricade PRT Port, then had a mini-crash. I reinstalled the G85 as a local printer; printing was normal. I set the printer to the router and tried to install the Barricade PTR Port...
I have a Gateway Notebook with Windows 98 SE and a Celeron 333 MHz processor. I had done a number of security updates and somehow had skipped MS04-018/KB823353, as shown with running Trend Micro Internet Secuirty 2005. When running Windows Update...
I have a Gateway Notebook Solo 2500, Celeron 333 MHz, running Win 98 SE. I had purchased 10 ft and 6 ft cables for SVGA monitor cable extension (take output of monitor and put it on a remote projector). This works fine; the configuration is a Male/Male at the cable ends. I now need to double the...
The Gateway customer service rep is steering me to a 160 gb external USB hard drive for $129.99. Though he says it's compatible with my motherboard, how can I be sure?
Thanks,
David

As I won't see my friend for a while, can I still use System Restore as part of the process to remove Windows Media Player 9 and restore and reinstall Player 8? He will probably add files and e-mail messages before we could get back together.
Thanks,
David
I was helping a friend who has XP. His media player was ver 8.0. We had downloaded the 9.0 update and I got confused and stopped the install of ver 9.0. When I go to try to reinitialize the update, Windows Media Player indicates it has the latest version, but Help|About tells me that it's still...
I ran AD-AWARE last week and some Spyware indications came back. Due to time, unable to finish the scan. A NAV scan (with updated virus definitions) revealed no viruses.

A friend is running Windows 98 SE and at startup gets the following: WJView Error ERROR:Unable to locate system class: java/lang/Object. What does this mean and how can it be eliminated?
Thanks,
David
