I'm working on a friend's win98 computer. It boots up and reaches a point where it gives an iexplorer has performed an illegal operation and must be terminated error message.
So, I have a couple questions:
1) Is there any way I can fix the problem through the command line or the win98 disk...
I'm using Outlook 2k on a win2k box to keep track of internet e-mail accounts. Today I started getting duplicate messages being downloaded from the server. That is, the same e-mail is showing up twice in the inbox.
Anyone have any idea what is causing this and how to fix?
Thanks.

Have you tried starting up in Safe Mode with and without networking and see if that helps. Sounds like maybe a bad driver might be causing the problem. How long ago did it start? Did you add anything recently that may be causing the problem?

Ok, don't know if this is of any use or not, but here goes.
I'm assuming that if you're using a SAMBA drive then it is a Linux/Unix machine you're writing to. In which case, check on that machine the default permissions for file creation for the user(s). I'm thinking it's something like...
I believe if you run the internet setup it will allow you to change the hostname. Not sure though, been a while since I even had my Mac booted into OS 9.
Hope this helps.

I'm working on a couple Mac PowerPC's. A 9600/300 and a 9500/200. Both will boot up but only show the Mac background and no menu. I suspect something in the video card, and I'm using a Mac to vga adapter with no luck. I would like to try to find a vga adapter card that will work, but that I...
I share my mouse and keyboard via an usb kvm. However, I currently have to keep a ps2 keyboard connected to my pc to wake it from standby mode. Is there a way I can configure XP (pro) to recognize the usb mouse and keyboard for all functions?

I'm not sure.
I do know that with OS X, you had OS X and OS 9 on the same partition. But I prefer doing it with separate partitions just to keep things clean and unconfusing.

You might try pulling up a Terminal window and issuing the date command and see what kind of result you get.
Also, check in your system preferences what the date time preference is.
Hope this helps.

Ok, this is actually fairly simple to do.
I'm assuming you have the install disk for both 10.2 and 10.3.
Start by installing one of the OS's, probably best to start w/10.2. Make sure you install it on a partition, not the whole drive. Size of partitions is your call. I would recommend 4...
The second power supply is from an identical system that works perfectly. The monitor also works ok. It's only the one system that has the problem. I suspect that the motherboard has been damaged from heat, just wanted a second opinion before I have them spend any money on brand new power...
I'm doing volunteer work for a non-profit organization working on their computer lab. The power supplies are dying due to lack of cleaning. One machine the fan on the power supply died but it didn't shut the machine down. When I put a power supply from another machine in, the computer boots...
Ok, did some thinking and looking last night. Discovered that there is a Product Key sticker on the side of the box. That should work with any retail version of XP when installing...ie my buddy who bought a copy of XP can give me a copy and when I use it to install, just put in my Product Key...
I recently purchased an IBM Intellistation E Pro w/MS XP Pro. One of the main reasons I purchased it was for the XP Pro. The system is a refurbished former lease computer.
Much to my chagrin I discovered upon receiving the system that it does not come with an XP disk, not even an OEM system...
Ok, I'm trying the upgrade reinstall, actually started it last night and decided to hold off until I could get more info.
First problem. Log errors. Says it can't uninstall SP2 or SP1.
What now?

I'm working on a friends home computer running WinXP SP2. Lot's of spyware was running on it, got most of it cleaned up and blocked. I updated all the patches. My problem now is that Service Pack 2 didn't install completely and won't uninstall now. I've also tried system restore but it won't...
Thanks for the input. It is now a moot point since the machine died in transit from one location to the other. Power lights come on, cd rom activates, but nothing else happens.
Anyone know where I can find a decent used Mac that will run OS 9? I have a ColorstyleWriter that I need to use...
I would like to add a second internal hard drive to my Powerbase 240. Does anyone know whether the motherboard will support a second drive? If so, how big? Where can I get an ide cable that will support more than one hard drive?

I'm not quite sure I understand your question. If you're looking for a terminal interface on a Apple computer, Apple's running OS X have a built in terminal interface. It's located in the Utilities folder inside the Applications folder.
If you're looking for a terminal interface for OS 9...
I'm sorry, I haven't tried using CCC in a networked environment.
However, having re-read your original post I offer this...
cp has a -p option that will preserve the original files' owner, group, permissions, and timestamp (read from a linux info page on cp).
Hope this helps.
