For both of these questions, check out http://www.callrecordingcenter.com as they offer (basically broker) multiple systems to meet the need of the client. Their prices are reasonable and they are very knowledgeable.
Their site has a great explanation of the different types of call recording also.
You actually could use a call recording system (http://www.callrecordingcenter.com/call_recording.php) to gather this data, but it would certainly be an overkill (thus your title is not actually that far off). But might make some sense if you had other reasons to record your calls.
