@ kwtaylor:
Yeah I should probably do that. We have SmartUPS's on all our networking gear and the phone system, but the phone lines themselves coming in from our telco don't have anything (I don't think). None of our UPS's detected a power surge or outage of any kind, neither did the BCM 400...
So no way of repairing them on my own eh? Any idea where in Canada (Ontario) I can get them repaired for a good price? I'll check with my vendor as well but it would be good to hear suggestions as well.
We had a huge thunder storm roll through the area over the weekend. 8 out of around 60 or so Nortel digital phones [T7316 & T7316E's] were fried (along with some other mechanical/electrical equipment throughout the plant) when lightning struck our property. All 8 of these phones, when plugged...
Ok after some testing I see now that "Power User" is sufficient for EM logins but not for telset logins (Denied in Admin is shown for telset). So if I want to go the telset way I need to give her full blown Administrator group access.
I also see that Voice Administrator (1013) and Power User...
That was the problem endlesswinter! I have a 1120E IP Phone. I tried it from another digital phone and I was not told "Access Denied". Thanks!
As for user groups - is "Power User" what I would need to give? Everything else doesn't seem to allow usernames to be renamed (I tried all the groups)...
Good point bluemr2. Lets see if I can figure out how to create her a restricted account in Element Manager. Can anyone tell me what group I need to ad her to in EM to lock her down significantly? All I need to give her is basic access to rename extensions and perhaps other minor things.
F9*8 eh? No I was not! I tried it now and I can log in, but from there what do I do to rename a users extension? I'll keep playing with it but if anyone would care to enlighten me I would be much obliged.
Thanks endlesswinter. I set a telset password in BCM EM and the account is already part of ID 1009 group Administrator but it is still giving me "Access Denied" right when I enter F**266344 (I have closed EM for a few minutes before trying it). I'm not sure where exactly to check if "telset...
I want to give a coworker the ability to rename a users extension so that she can do this on her own. Currently I do this through BCM Element Manager but I definitely do not want to give her access to this so I am looking for a way to do this through the phone. I have tried following the...
Any suggestions of good CDR 3rd party software that I could look into?
Currently I just have the BCM Monitor open on the Line Monitor tab open on my 3rd monitor... course I am only here 9 hours a day 5 days a week so who knows what goes on after hours... so a CDR might be worth it if its not...
Yes through auto answer. Dial our main # (or 1-800 #), dial the extension, then dial the #. Anyone could do it if they new the # and ext.
No employees have been caught doing this (yet) but you never know how long it'll be before one of them figures it out and starts to abuse it. I'd like to...
Yeah one of the sites is in Toronto, Canada, so there must be a hundred exchanges... I havent looked but I'm sure its really bad (416, 905, and 647 area codes + exchanges). I think all 416 and 647's would be local though but I havent confirmed this.
So other than routing is there any other way...
Unfortunately I cannot do that because the area codes here are spread across a wide area. Sometimes it is long distance, sometimes it is not. So if someone from Site A was to dial 456-xxx-xxxx and routing automatically forwarded via the IP trunk to an external line at Site B half the time it...
I have two BCMs at two sites. Site A is a BCM400 and Site B is a BCM50. There are 4 IP trunks going between both sites. Site A has are code 123 and Site B has area code 456. To save on long distance costs users in Site A can dial extension 299 to get an outside line at Site B, and users in Site...
