When I create a new universal distribution list it does not auto generate the smtp and x400 e-mails and never shows in the GAL. Can not e-mail to it at all. Creating users with mailboxes work without a glitch. Even if I manually create the smtp and x400 it doesn't work.
Any suggestions?
I'm getting this same issue. 2003 server exchange 2003. You don't need iislockdown with 2003 server and I don't have a urlscan.ini. I cannot preview messages with punctuation, nor can I forward, reply or reply all... New is okay. I've been searching for a fix for about a week now with no luck.
Also, the smtp connector is no longer configured for smarthost. I forgot the server share that connector.
And, I have message Journalling turned on - it is only getting incoming mail messages. Outgoing I assume are on the old server.
I'm in the last steps of migrating to Exchange 2003 on a new Win 2k3 server. The old box was a Win 2000 with Exchange 2000. The issue I am getting is that all outbound e-mail is still routed out the old server (I assume incoming is also routed through the old server). I have all setting...
Under you default SMTP Virtual server properties / Access / connection. Enter the IP of the machine that is forwarding you your cleaned e-mail. I have the same setup. Works great, you might have to add a few other IP's in some cases (just think about this when you are pulling your hair out...
I am taking this one step further. I have two domains our main domain and a secondary. The main forwards it's e-mail through our provider to scrub for viruses (just incase inhouse misses something). But I can not do this with the secondary domain (would need to buy more services from that...
I have a distribution group in Exchange 2000 that I want hidden to anyone who is NOT a member. I also have a security group setup for those in the group, if there is a way to do this I know I can remove the distribuition group and only use the Security group. Thanks for the help.

Being in the same boat and still seeing messages from "<>" in my queue and not quite understand Noktar's last message, could you clarify for me? How can I put the address in the message filter if there really is no address? I don't really want to put the destination address since...
554 Error writing message to safe storage; message could not be stored to disk
Has anyone ever seen this error? Do I have a hard drive issue? Technet has NOTHING.
I too had some issues with this but have since followed the directions here and now when I do the tests I get the desired results. But, is it possible that since it was open at one time that my GAL was accessed and now they know all our e-mail addresses? Also it seems as though the rate of...
I think my server is/was being used as a relay server. I admit I am not fully versed in Exchange so I apologize if this is a basic question.
I keep getting errors of mails that were not sent. Normally this isn't a big deal but the sender is listed as <> Here are two I got this weekend.

You may also need to contact your ISP to tell them the IP of your exchange box so they can forward all your e-mail to that IP. If you are configured this way and if you are just coming off of dial-up then I assume you are.
This happened to me when I migrated exchange from one temporary server to the new server. I didn't have all the mailboxes moved over and there were still some setting that pointed to my old exchange server. Is this what you did?

Looks good already... Can bandwidth have anything to do with this? Kind of a long shot but I'm not finding anything better.
I have been having an issue with one of my users. Let me run down the hardware involved.
