Need a solid book on Vista running on MS Networks and getting Vista to cooperate with apps to reduce end user input.
Same goes for a book on Win2003 and Exchange 2003.
Are the MS press books really any better or just reformatted/reworded knowledge base articles?
Thanks for any help before I...
My older PC PIII500 192 RAM (Win2k with only task mgr running) is being pegged by the services.exe running around the upper 90's % and has my PC crawling for about 5 minutes.
Any insights?
I created a floppy boot disk on a Vista Home Prem with the gui and another with cmd line (format /s). Both create the same error.

Then it goes to a a: prompt where no commands work. I get no errors when creating the boot disk...
One tool is a net work sniffer as mentioned above. But you have more than that and there is no single tool to discover all the devices and what they are.
I'd suggest you try the following as a start and modify as your local permissions/authority and skill allow, including the order of the...
Since the hosts file uses ip I thought this is one place someone maybe able to assist me.
Are there domains that by default, Windows hosts file is ignored? Like when attempting to block a site? i.e.

I'm Physciallly disconnect from the DC but still a member. Do I only need to disassociate from the DC when disconnected to break policy? I can easily re-associate when I get back to the office.
Then were do I look for the domain policy on a Vista Business local host?
BTW it does work with ICMP traffic via ping but not with other web traffic.
This also works for most other web sites just fine. AOL is the problem so far.
On a windows box I'm playing with using a hosts file for a second layer for anti-spyware using one of the publicly available hosts file for it.
Now it work fine as a second line of defense for that.

To clean you data off your hard drive, why is several full formats not considered good for all but the NSA to make the data to far down to read?
Its my understanding that the data on a drive is like a layer on a cake with each rewrite adding another layer. So why is a second or third complete...
Once a user/service account has the attribute of "Hide from Exchange email lists" ticked (for services that need their own accounts), how long does it take to happen? Or does some other event need to happen?
Thanks
