Ah, but that is another issue (for me, a blast from the past even): you would have rm6 on a 280R or E220/E420 if you for instance have or have had one or more A1000's or similar storage attached to it...
It is a pain, but you would have to add up all the information for instance 'Sun explorer'...
Gallows,
I'm a bit confused now. You were talking about a V440 first, and now you are talking about a V490.
There is a simple way to check if you know what to look for, but it is not generally available knowledge: that's why Sun will not provide (access to) internal docs when you don't have...
I guess you already used the internal dual channel RAID controller for the mirroring of the OS-disks, so you cannot use that ( I hate to think you don't use it for that purpose, or you would like to stripe 2 OS-disks: I don't want to know how or why you would or could, actually ... )
When i...
You could go for the simple solution or the intelligent solution: depending on your needs and the characteristics of the environment, you could for instance decide to recycle the tapes between the pools, which would reduce the wear on your tapes. There are a lot of possibilities with Legato...
The new server has a different ip and is already in production.
Firewall configuration issues aside, i don't think the business application licenses already installed on the server would like an ip-change ;)
In any case the environment is too small to carry an independent backup server. The...
Coffeysm, gallows,
I do not quite agree. Look for instance at URL:http://www.bolthole.com/solaris/LDAP.html
This does not use IPSEC and should at least in part answer this question.

We have a Sun Enterprise server which has a L9 DLT backup unit attached. This is to be phased out ( the server that is ).
Problem is that the backup server software (Netbackup) is installed on the old server.
I have the software. I want to move the L9 and software over to a newer (V480)...
vGogh, had done this already, otherwise i wouldn't have posted anything.
But i solved it! Had to create a Logical Disk on the 3310 first....
After labeling and newfs-ing the disk, it all works fine!

I am configuring a 3310 connected to a Sun V440... When i am in OBP, running probe-scsi-all shows up 3310. However under Solaris nothing shows up.
Both 32- & 64-bit driver for SCSI-adapter have been installed,
all required firmware updates have been applied.
I am using EIScheck documentation...
Hi,
I am trying to write a script for some operators at our office which they can use to stop/start the helpdesk application during the night, as they are the only ones using this application, Remedy.
The idea is to use RBAC for this. The underlying init-script however su's to the user the...

we have a 2-node Solaris 8 / Sun Cluster 3.0 installation, on which i would like to implement NTP ( network time protocol ). Internally, Sun Cluster 3.0 already uses xntpd, which is used to synchronize both nodes' system time.
However, i would like to get it to work with an external NTP...
We have solstice backup (=legato) 5.5 running on a box and are testing storedge enterprise backup 7 (=also legato) on two separate Solaris boxes.
On both occasions we have logging of errors logged to both daemon.log, but also to /var/adm/messages and /var/log/syslog.
How can we disable...

A simple tar to the device will work also.
Backups are made, we even managed to restore a system from tape this week. It's very annoying as this happens primarily during weekends ( when no one is around to reset consecutive error counters ) and the full backup...
What monitor are you using ? I have a 20" Sun Trinitron which needs a powercycle every once in a while to get it to work... ( This could actually be your problem... ). Check if all components are still in place, that nothing came loose internally.
Check the boot process by connecting a...
