Most of this stuff (Diskspace, Services, EventLog) can be monitored and handeled by MonitorWare Agent.

If we are talking about Windows Server and Active Directory, you can enable security auditing to log events for failed logon attempts for the Windows security eventlog.
Using 3rd Party Tools like MonitorWare, you can store and analyze the security events for attacks and such stuff.
