You all might be tired of these tests/reports by now. :-)
I turned off the computer and that was previously near the modem, and re-ran the tests. I got a similar spread pattern but overall lower margin values.
Now it's time to fess up with something else that might be contributing to the...
I executed a little shell script for a while to see how the downstream margin value fluctuates on my modem. The last iteration of my output (before ctrl-c'ing the script) is shown here...
Oops, it looks like I spoke a minute too soon. I just started streaming some video and it seems to be back up in the old range again.

OK, I just did a bit more poking around. Ot looks like the stunnell is trying to connect with verizon:
